honeymoon help

hello ladies! my fh and i need to decide on a hm location...we originally thinking hawaii. then after a 3 1/2 hour flight to florida we decided we couldn't travel that long. he mentioned cancun...i have always thought cancun was a spring breaker location. so if you could let me know where you are going and what resort you decided on it would be great help!

our hm is a gift so we aren't concerned about a budget, since we are willing to make up any differences in prices if need be. tia!

Re: honeymoon help

We are going there for our honeymoon as well, and was about to suggest it to you. Our thoughts were that we didnt want a lot of the money to go to an expensive flight, since all we cared about was being on a fabulous beach. I'm sure Hawaii is amazing, but I didnt want to lay out a lot of money when theres a good chance we wont leave the room very often

And Royal Hideaway seems amazing, and you can do a ton of day trips if you do feel like being a good tourist. I wouldnt go to Cancun, I went for springbreak in hgih school and would NOT want to be there on my Honeymoon. But I guess it does depend on when your wedding is....cause I am sure Cancun is at its worst in March and April when schools have springbreak.

There are a ton of other places in Mexico that are great for Honeymoons, too.

All the Palaces in Cancun are great for honeymoon especially Moon Palace (its off the strip) and has a jacuzzi in every room. Its very VERY romantic.

Re: honeymoon help

I totally recommend Riviera Maya. We are doing Riviera Maya for 8 days and then scooting over to the Ritz Carlton in Cancun for 5 days (just want to get a good mix of relaxation and some night life).

In Riviera Maya I recommend:
Royal Hideaway (like Bari suggested)
Excellence (was called Secrets Excellence until last month)
Azul Resorts
Adventura Palace

There is also a brand new Mandarin Oriental which is GORGEOUS but does not offer an all-inclusive plan.

Good luck

Re: honeymoon help

We got married on July 7 and we went to St Lucia (Sandals regency). We had such an awesome time, and it was the best vacation ever. We got a 2 story villa with private plunge pool/on top ocean bluff, and it was 'simply beautiful!' It's such a beauiful place, everyone is so friendly, and the food was delicious and I'm a very picky eater. The pool and rooms were always kept clean and there was a wide variety of food and restaurants to chose from. I definitely recommend St Lucia to anyone. Antigua is supposed to be gorgeous too, we're planning on going their for our 1 year wedding anniversary. They just re-did the whole Sandals there.

I woild never even consider going to Hawaii. Too far, and it's retarded because theres nothing there thats all inclusive. U wanna be able to 'eat drink and be married...and drink and eat some more,' and to go someplace thats not all inclusive, on a honeymoon, it just doesnt make sense. Im sure Hawaii is beautifully, but I, nor my husband could ever sit on a flight for that long just for beach, sand and clear water we can find in the Bahamas, St Lucia or Antigua or anything in a 4 1/2 hour flight radious. Thats just me though, I also think Hawaii is over rated.....To me, its not even about the $, cause the $ we spend on our St. Lucian honeymoon we could have went to Hawaii, but just didnt want to!

I've also heard of a great place called SECRETS, theyre like a sandals, and I believe its in Mexico. Its supposed to be alittle cheaper than Sandals, but if you visit their website, it does look gorgeous!
