Honeymoon in Hawaii

I am thinking of going to Maui for my honeymoon. I went to Liberty Travel and got a price of $2038 pp. That includes flight to vegas , 2 days at the Venetian, flight to Maui, 7 nights at the Kea Lani and a car. Am I crazy or is this a good deal?

Also any idea of how much we will spend while in Hawaii? Everyone says expensive but how expensive are we talking?

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

I know we spent over $3000 on dining & activities and we were there for only 7 days.

That sounds good to me. I stayed at the Kea Lani for 7 nights on my honeymoon in June - it is gorgeous!!

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

That sounds like an amazing deal!!! WOW. The flights alone are nearly that much. LOL

In terms of what you'll spend, the highest costs are airfare and hotel, which you have covered. Meals are within your control -- you could go to a local grocery/convenience store and pick up breakfast food, bypassing the high priced buffets. (At least $20 pp/per day would be my guess). Lunch also $20 pp/per day at the hotel. Dinner more like $50 pp/per day. (Unless you are big drinkers, in which case it would be much more) I don't think that meals are that much more money then any other resort area.

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

I live in Queens so I went to the one on 188th St and the service rd of the LIE. Its in Fresh Meadows. Joanne has been great. We have been there twice and have sat with her for about 2 hours each time.

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

I'm going to Hawaii also. What's the dress code there during the evening. I'm packing this weekend and I'm not sure if I should bring very dressy stuff.

I know I'll be in my bathing suit most of the day but for the evening, I'm thinking skirts, pants, summer dresses & nice tops. Does this work?

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

Wow! That's a deal. When is your honeymoon? Mine is in Dec & its 3 times that. We also booked through liberty. We're doing a bit more, but not that much ... We've been talking about calling back the travel agent to see about any further discounts ... now I definitely will!

thanks for the info

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

I am honeymooning in Hawaii also. It does seem to be a deal. Maybe that is price per person. I am booking through Liberty also. That is how they quoted everything to me....just a thought.

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

Definitely a good deal. It is per person....but that's still only about $4000 total. Your room at the Kea Lani alone should be $2000 total - I'm guessing you're booked in a mountain or garden view.

As for spending money there - it's totally up to you. We lived it up, had a few nice dinners, did the activities we wanted...and averaged $250 per day for the both of us. (keep in mind we averaged $50 per day in souveniers - we went a little crazy in that department)

Each day works out totally different. For example, the day we did our snorkel cruise & went to Mama's Fish House for dinner we spent about $450. The day we did the Road to Hana we spent about $100.

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

Scoop - I only came across one restaurant that required men to wear a jacket (at the Halekulani on Oahu). (Navy blazer/Khakis level - Ties/Suits are definately NOT needed for men.) I wore sundresses most nights or khakis and a nice shirt. I brought my favorite 'little black dress' that I wore twice more for fun then because it was required. Hawaii is very laid back, so very dressy clothes are not required!

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii

$2038 is the price per person but I still think it is deal. Maybe its because I am going in August. Alos we are definitely booked in standard rooms at the Venetian and the Kea Lani but they are both suite hotels. We'll just have to pray for an upgrade.
