Honeymoon in Hurricane Season

So..we just realized we are getting married during hurricane season and I am a terrible flier, so Hawaii is out of the question. Is there anywhere in the Caribbean that is not hit by hurricanes usually? Any recommendations for November?

Aruba is the safest Island it hardly gets hit by anything

yup.

If your a bad flyer but Hawaii is still financially an option I'd look into getting medication from the Dr. and taking a direct flight so you can sleep the entire way through.

Well I went to St.Lucia in the first week of September whic his PRIME hurricane season. We were fine. Unfortunately St.Lucia was just hit by Hurricane Thomas so it does obviously get hit.

Although the chances of it getting hit 2 years in a row are very slim. I believe the odds are like every 5-7 years St.Lucia is hit with a hurricane.

lots of people will tell you Aruba is out of the hurricane belt. THey are less likely to get hit but it does happen. My friend was there a few years ago in September and they were hit with a hurricane.

Unfortunatley traveling to anywhere in the carribean at that time is a risk. I would still plan to go where you dream of going though and just buy travelers insurance. This way if you have to postpone it due to a storm you don't get major fees. We stayed at Sandals and it was $400 more. So worth the piece of mind it gave us.

Thanks Girls!! We were thinking of Sandals Antigua, which I believe is right near St Lucia..not sure yet. Any recommendations on the best Sandals...like the all inclusive idea!

FH and I went to PUnta Cana back in September for 5 days and it rained every day of course there was some sun and we didn't let it ruin our vacation but it does rain around that part of the caribbean so i say Aruba is def the safest!

We loved Sandals Regency La Toc in St.Lucia! it's a rain forest island so it rained 1 day on and off and for like 10 minutes every other day and was Other than that it was beuatiful the food was good and the staff was awesome!

I highly reccomend them

We got married in September and our TA told us to either go to Aruba or St. Lucia. I think Aruba is a 6 hour flight and St. Lucia we didn't have a direct flight but it's pretty far too.

If I did it again we would have went back to Aruba...more to do IMO!

I stayed there too (not for my HM) and we loved it. We also stayed at the one in Nigril, Jamaica and that was beautiful and really nice also!!!

Just make sure you get trip insurance! That way, you will feel a little more at ease for any what ifs aka hurricanes that come up!

We went to Curacao. Its outside the hurricane belt, and the island is stunning. Less crowded than Aruba and the hotels we stayed in were totally awesome. You may have to do a little more research, but I totally recommend it. Let me know if you want more info.

Just get good travel insurance, no matter where you end up going.

FH and I are going to St. Lucia in three weeks (provided everything turns out ok down there with the hurricane aftermath) and I can't tell you how much better I felt about the whole situation knowing we could cancel and go somewhere else.
