Okay, Mexico has really not been the best place for us to pick! Our friends went to Secrets Capri last summer- LOVED it and we booked there....first, there is all the issues with drugs, kidnapping Americans and we research and hear its only in the border cities- NOW there is the swine flu!!!!!
I don't know what to do!! We really wanted to go there, we do have travel insurance and could go somewhere else but that means starting all over at figuring where to go that's all inclusive, adults only, and really nice!!!
Anyone else in this situation? We are supposed to leave on July 4th...

Im supposed to go to Mexico for my HM also. Im waiting it out to see what happens. We still ahve some time.

We are in the same boat and suppose to leave 5 days after you. I am much more worried than my fiance. He wants to wait it out but I share your EXACT sentiments. We are in the process of researching other places to go though.

Honstly if you can go somewhere else i would or hold off for afew mths. you have two mths this may all be over in a week or it may not be, i would call your travel agent and get there opinon and see what other people.

I just hope we dont hold off too long, have to change places and then there is no availability at the nice resorts!!!
Those of us in this situation should definitely keep each other posted for advice or tips!

Doesn't Secrets have resorts in other places or is it only Mexico? Excellence has nice all inclusive resorts but I think it's only in DR and Mexico. You could also check out Renaissance Ocean suites in Aruba or Sandals. Good luck.

i would def call your TA and ask if you can be re-booked to a sister resort.. you dont want to risk it

I am currently LIVING in MEXICO. I honestly think you will be fine if your HM is in a few months! If your honeymoon is coming up soon, you will still be fine as long as you avoid sick people and wash your hands. If you are worried though the whole time I would rebook b/c it's no fun on your honeymoon to be worried. But honestly they have hyped this up on the news too much. It is a flu strain that is responding to antivirals and is only contracted by close contact with others that are sick and with surfaces recently exposed. Good hygiene and youre good to go. Again if your honeymoon is in a few months you will be fine by then.
