ok the first place we picked about a year ago was tahiti/bora bora and moorea. The place looks amazing, just like paradise so thats why we wanted that...but after reading MANY reviews and really thinking about it, i realized as amazingly beautiful as it is, its not right for fh and I, neither of us lay on the beach, he HATES it infact and i can only do it for a short period of time. We also dont like to be on schedules when on vacation. The fact that there would be 3 restaurants to really choose from and the most popular one only having about 7 tables and us having to book a restaurant MONTHS ahead of time i didn't want to do. I dont want to make reservations months ahead of time. I dont know how id feel that day, maybe id be tired and want to go to dinner late. But we also want a little bit more of a nightlife.
OK so then it was capri, amalfi coast and other areas of italy. This sounded great and for MONTHS has been our plan. I was glad fh wanted to go to europe. WELL last night he says how he doesnt really want go to italy but capri will be ok...i said NO i want you to LOVE where we're going and be excited and he said he'll go if its what i want. So i said no we'll keep looking.
ok so fh started with his suggestions: san francisco and hawaii, cuba, dubai, argentina, bahamas which i said no right away bc i went there with ex and not going on HM to a place i was at with ex. He keeps going back and forth and its annoying bc we're usually on the same page with interests and likes lol but for some reason he has a thing about not going to europe
Then FH says we'll we talked about monaco so how about that...we go online, i show him the hotels, go to the visit monaco site and show him what there is to do and all that...well he LOVES monaco and now wants that and even picked a hotel. It helps that theres a casino every few feet lol. The one bad thing is that i went on a couple of the hotels sites and they STILL don't have rates yet for may, which was also the problem with capri. I saw general prices on another site that were from 07 so i do have an idea but still i'd rather get exact rates.
But even before we stick with monaco(which i dont mind of course bc since i was a teenager i used to say for my HM i want to go to the french riviera) But i want to explore all options i guess. What are you going or what places do you think we'd be interested in. Remember we need other activities besides laying on the beach, i know for some thats their dream vacation to lay in the sun and drinking nice cold drinks but we don't do that. I also like to just go out at night and be able to roam the streets, walk into a restaurant and then after go for drinks and have a lively atmosphere at night. Casino's are a plus, fh and i have a great time when we go, its good for us to go have drinks, fh gamble and hang out.
sorry this is long but i am gonna give a list of places and we're going to sit down and really look into every place and make sure we are 100% happy with it.
PS-no greece, i think it would be ideal for us but he doesn't want to

Here's my suggestion. If you do go to San Fran, stay for a day or so and then go to Napa. FM me if you want ideas. He can go to his store in San Fran but it's not the best place for honeymoon. Great restaurants etc. but Napa was GREAT for honeymoon. In fact, we met a bunch of people there that were honeymooning. The spas there are amazing, the restaurants are top notch, in fact some of the top chefs of the world have their restaurants there including the French Laundry which is Thomas Kellers restaurant.
From there, you can take a flight to Hawaii out of San Francisco. I think Maui would be more your speed. Lots of luxury resorts, shopping and activities. Unfortunately, no gambling but I think you'll have a fun time nonetheless!
i told fh if he wants we'll go to san francisco maybe in the summer after the wedding or a year or so.

hi
sorry to crash -
sounds like hawaii (most of the time in Maui) would be a great option for you guys....beach, sun and lots of nightlife...
i see people are mentioning Australia - keep in mind the seasons are opposite and their summers are when we have our winter
Heres a suggestion - how about San Sebastain and Marbella areas in Spain.. I have been to San Sebastian and it is beautiful - beach is just liek the pictures and there are lots of bars and stuff to go to at night and shopping during the day.. they call it the spanish version of Miami..
Re: honeymoon is driving me nuts**SORRY SO LONG***

my FH didnt want to go to europe either but i convinced him to go to london and paris....the trick was finding something he liked and showing him that if we went he could see it in person...for him it was the davinci code. I told him i would take him to all the places that were in the book and movie.....he said okay! lol dont know if that helps at all!!

Here are some places id reccomend for you since you also want some sort of nightlife...btw Hawaii does not really have a nightlife, Oahu you will find things to do there at night time but honestly nothing too crazy, dining, bars, polynesian shows, its really more for relaxing and shopping imo....
Think about: Spain and Barcelona : Were going there for our one year anniversary and im reading info. about it and there is so much to do. Then we are spending a few nights in Monaco afterwards b/c It's a short flight and the french riviera is beautiful.
Hong Kong and Singapore: If youre up for a long flight
Dubai: Again if youre up for a long flight, totally safe & everyone speaks english, lots to see, and a flight away from Maldives where you can relax on the beach.
S.Africa: crazy long flight but if you go there, its worth it to stop by Seychelles as well.

I think Monaco sounds like your best bet.
I've been to Capri a few times and honestly, it's beautiful, but a bit boring after you see the sights.
Australia is just sooo far! I'd love to go, but it's far.
I've heard that there are some wonderful resorts in India...don't know if that's an option.
yeah i was worried about that with capri.
yeah i dont think fh will agree to india. Hes so weird though, its not like he won't travel, he mentioned dubai, south africa and other places but some locations he gets weird about...he also did mention thailand last night
Yeah the more i keep thinking about other places the more I think monaco might be our best bet...but its good bc evaluating all our options to make sure we make the right choice is what we need to do. Watch me end up going somewhere completely different than wasnt even mentioned yet

I would suggest either Hawaii (lots of sight seeing to do) or Costa Rica. The beach was a problem for Brian too. And we were thinking about doing Costa Rica, because there is a lot to do. They have an active volcano, rain forest, water rafting, etc.

what about the french and spanish riviera??? Spain is GORGEOUS and its a great time to go, plenty of stuff to see...might be awesome
SPAIN did cross my mind but never brought it up...i am just not 100% sure about traveling from one place to another, i feel it might kill some of the time we have but might not be bad either, gotta figure this out. OMG i just thought of something, we could go to Ibiza if we do spain, now they definitely have a nightlife there hahah
SERIOUSLY DO IT!!!! I heard nothing but good things!!! If I was getting married later that would be TOPS on my list!!!! Its FUUCKING GORGEOUS THERE!!!!! AND THE NIGHTLIFE IS SIIIIIIIIICK!!!

i really love the idea of Monaco and the French Riviera I think there is alot to do there, tons of shops, restaurants, late night happenings
I think you should get in touch with a good travel agent, and get some rates and prices
i can get flight info but the hotels dont have their rates up yet ...i should call the hotel soon, my dad speaks french so i'll have him talk to them, i am sure they'll be nicer to a french speaking person hahaha

Hi date-twin-who-has-still-not-booked-their-HM too - LOL.... We're in the same boat Although, we did speak to the TA last night and are making some progress- I was originally just talking to him but last night we conferenced in FH. We are probably going to do 3-nights Rome, 3-nights Florence (with day trips to Tuscany, Pisa and Venice) and then on the Cinqueterre or Lake Como (probably Cinqueterre) for 3 or 4 more days... OK, enough about me... LOL
For you guys- what about: Thailand (a friend just went there and LOVED her HM but it was $$$ and more activiites than nightlife/ must like Thai food) ** Spain- Barcelona/ Madrid (absolutely a night life and can go to Italy or France too if you want to split the trip) A split HM- a few days in maybe Rome or another major port and then a cruise? Affordable and lots going on so you won't get bored.... You can choose a nicer cruise ship b/c it's your HM (we were orinionally looking to do this) Brazil- I've heard good things/ nightlife London/France- nightlife/ but $$$
** my favorite option for you guys based on what you said you want / time of year , etc...
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Oooo YAY on the progress and WOW that sounds like such an amazing HM.
thank you for all that info. Hmmmm alot of people are mentioning spain, i am definitely going to look into spain.

ok i am definitely calling FH in a few minutes and mentioning spain, i think this is something he would go for. Its true it is only a short flight to monaco so it wont be that bad if we do two locations
thank you

I think you need to go some place lively! Like Brazil or maybe Los Angels the Hawaii??
fh is trying to convince me for a week now on san francisco and hawaii but you dont understand, he is saying this bc of a store and yes i really mean a store..his favorite stuff is from the HUF store and theres only 1 in san francisco
LOL - men are so funny! Well San Fran is a great city - one of my favorites...my sister used to live there. ESPO, we went through the SAME thing... We didn't want carribean b/c of the hurricanes but we did want it b/c of the GAMBLING!! Then we thought of Europe, but we aren't the type to get up and sight see at all!! BoraBora and all that - gorgeous but I agree, not a nightlife and we like a nightlife. We narrowed down to Vegas/Hawaii,Monoco/Monte Carlo
Monoco/Monte Carlo is awesome but ubber expensive.....we price out at 14,000 for 7 nights...so we decided to wait and do that for an annivesary after we got a house!
Then we just stumpled accross Phoneican in Scottsdale and Lake Tahoe.. In Scottsdale we will relax and spa and in Lake Tahoe..... go out and gamble!!
