honeymoon opinions

so just curious as to everyones opinions....DH and I are postponing the HM for a bit so he can build back up some vacay time, but we are so torn between going somewhere tropical or going to Europe.

We do love relaxing, I love laying in the sun reading a book, but DH is one of those people who can't just lay on the beach all day, he needs some activities.

I have also wanted to go to scotland and ireland for a long time, but obviously thats a lot of tourist things and not much relaxing. my sister just went to europe last year and said its kind of crazy since you are always sightseeing, and she almost wishes they had done less!

So which would you guys prefer? Or does anyone have a suggestion for somewhere that combines both of those things? TIA!

sorry so long!

Depending on when you're going, take a look at Santorini Greece. We went there for 10 days two years ago, and got to do some site seeing (it's a small island, so you see just enough), but also got to truly relax on the beach. It was amazing!

Re: honeymoon opinions

I've never been to Europe and I always wanted to go but I didn't want to go for my honeymoon. There is a lot of things I would want to see and so many places to visit and I just wanted to RELAXXXX . We opted for a tropical honeymoon in maldives and there are activities to do - snorkeling, fishing, spa, windsurf, etc. We even did a day of shopping and sightseeing in the city and that's the one thing DH didn't enjoy

It really depends on your personal preference though...DH and I are def lay out and bum types

i would love to do europe but we couldnt fit it in the budget

we opted for costarica...from what i hear there are a lot of outdoor activities (zip lining, hiking etc) and also relaxing beautiful beaches

FH and I really wanted to do Europe for our honeymoon but because of our schedules (and money) we have to delay our honeymoon until January. Because we now are going in the winter, we didn't really want to do someplace just as cold as NY so we decided on Bali and Lombok instead! I'm SUPER excited about it. It's the perfect combination of beautiful beaches and relaxation and also outdoorsy activities and sightseeing. It's ending up costing about the same as if we went to Hawaii

Go to IRELAND. I took FH a few years ago as a 30th Bday present. Turned out to be one of the best vacations of our lives!!!!!!! We did a tour thru contiki cause we wouldn't know where to start... I highly recommend Ireland & touring with Contiki!!!!!! It's a young tour group (ages range from like 20 to 35) and you do so many fun things!

HTH!

DH and I were debating the same thing when we were booking our honeymoon, but for us we wanted to relax all week, not be running around for two.

We decided to go to mexico for the honeymoon and to do a tour of Italy for our one year anniversary.

Re: honeymoon opinions

you can go to ireland and scotland, and also find a beachy area of europe to relax in for the last few days. for example, for my birthday two years ago, my we went to paris for a few days, then the south of france where there are a lot of beaches and it's more relaxed. happy planning!
