Honeymoon Question...

Honeymoon Question...

This is a random one but...

I was thinking, since Vin might be getting accepted to Med School earlier than we originally planned-- how many of you are doing your HM's right away and how many of you are waiting?

Vinny and I scheduled ours right away but took full Insurance so that if something came up we could always just push the vaca back to whenever he had free.

Now that he is doing really well and taking his M-CATS soon he might get accepted which means no bueno on the HM... Which means we would have to push it off.

Just wondering how common this is. I'm kind of sad but understand that we need to do what's best for him.

Re: Honeymoon Question...

We're taking ours right away because we figured it was the best time to do so since we both have a feeling we'll get really busy afterwards.

My cousin though still hasn't taken hers. Her and her husband have pushed it off because he just started medical school when they got married. As a matter of fact, he flew in the day before only to have both of them fly back two days later since he had class. They figured that once he's done and his schedule isn't as bad, they can take that honeymoon.

Re: Honeymoon Question...

We're going in July, maybe even August, airfare is ridiculous. But the high season for Greece are basicly those 2 months, so thats when we chose to go. However, we are doing a family vacation to PR at the end of June. This way I'll have a kick a$$ tan, and I wont get sun poisoning. Been there before

Re: Honeymoon Question...

hey danigirl!

we arent waititng too long ( a week later) we wanted to settle in first and then go on vacation

i see HMs pushed back more and more now- people usually take smaller HM's and then push back the 'bigger' one until they can

Re: Honeymoon Question...

You know I considered waiting until Christmas break b/c FH has a school vacation then, but I realized that I didn't really WANT that. We'll need the break, and if we don't go in November, I could just see us skipping it, and regretting it forever.

However, we'll only be gone for 8 days - he's missing 5 days of work. I know your trip is longer...

eta: we're leaving for the airport 12 hours after our wedding ends.

Re: Honeymoon Question...

We had a White Trash Honeymoon in Hauppauge. DH whole family flew over for the wedding and stayed for a week after. We felt it wouldn't be right if they flew over to see us and we just took off on our honeymoon plus Dh had not seen them for almost a year. We stayed at the same hotel with them and played tourists for a week and went into the city and took them shopping. I don't think I would recommend it but for us it was the right thing to do.
Now we are planning our Not So White Trash Honeymoon and we are going to actually go away somehwere warm with white sandy beaches (not Jones Beach) Now I'm glad b/c we still have a vacation to look forward to.

Hey Dani,

we're gonna be waiting as well. FW is a teacher, and it's a labor day weekend wedding, so I don't know how kindly her principal would be to her just splitting for two weeks at the beginning of the year... though we've thought about it.

Re: Honeymoon Question...

Aw, sorry you may have toi push it off, but what a great reason to have to do so, huh? for fh!

We are marrying on 8/12 and leaving fro HM on 8/16, but I know some ppl wait. Only thing I got told by my older sister is GO RIGHT AWAY. If not, and you start to have kids, you'll never go.

LOL! You think they'll 'frown upon' that?!

I don't know-- I think they would welcome her peacing out for two weeks RIGHT at the beginning of school-- Who knows, maybe she'll even be able to miss out on Meet The Creature night!

I'll never forget-- my sister is a teacher and my Grandmother died like RIGHT before the first day of school- she had to rush from school to make the funeral because that's how strict they were with taking days off

We're leaving right away but our HM will be short (5 nights) to DR and then maybe for our 1 year anniversary go to Italy for 10 day-1 week.

Re: Honeymoon Question...

We took a really quick trip to Bermuda for 3 days right after the wedding to just calm down and relax a little. We needed it and I am so glad we did that.

We own a business together so between taking days here and there for the wedding and the mini trip we can't get away agin until probably the end of the summer which is when we are trying to plan our real honeymoon for.
