Honeymoon Question

Honeymoon Question

Did anyone book their honeymoon online themselves? I am looking at the sandals website now and they have the same prices the travel agent gave us so I was wondering why i couldn't just book myself. What would be the benefit of using a travel agent?

A room i like is 45% off so I would save 4k on an upgrade and I want to take advantage of that!

Re: Honeymoon Question

You should use Dawn from CruiseOne... she booked mine and doesnt charge for anything. I think she might get perks from the companies if people book through her. She is really nice (knows a lot of information) and responds quickly. I asked a number of girls who have had good experiences with her.

Re: Honeymoon Question

its only worth going through a travel agent if you have one you have worked with and trust. Most travel agencies today have to charge a small fee for booking airlines because airlines are not giving them a kickback anymore.

I booked though my travel agent because I have used her for years and she will keep an eye on the price and any changes, etc. but you can book it yourself just as easily.

Im going to book our honeymoon myself through american express, theres really no point to use a travel agent if you know exactly what you want. I say go for it with the sandals website

Re: Honeymoon Question

I'm still debating that myself... but don't worry about rushing to book bc of the Sandals sale - we were about to book in August bc we didn't want to miss the sale but still weren't 100% about it and the same sale is still going on!

We booked our cruise HM ourselves directly through Royal Carribean. Also, booked hotel in Barcelona before the cruise ourselves through hotels.com.

Thanks for the help ladies! I have booked vacations in the past myself and they were fine so i think I just might do it myself...

Re: Honeymoon Question

I also wondered why to use a travel agent b/c i've always booked my own travel all over before, but we had a really horrible experience the last time we went to the Bahamas that probably would have been quickly remedied had we had an agent on our side! We are also spending a lot and don't want any worries at all while we are away. Try Dawn from Cruise One because it won't cost you anything else to book with her, and you get the benefit of having her on your side! We used her and we are very happy!

Re: Honeymoon Question

Also, Dawn may be able to hook you up on top of the sale, because she has access to more stuff. We actually ended up getting more than booking our cruise ourselves!

Re: Honeymoon Question

I've booked with Sandals resorts through my travel agent twice in the past and shes awesome. She gets me the best prices and deals...I'm nervous to book a trip online. I'm scared I'll screw something up. FM me if you want the travel agents info.
BTW Sandals is awesome......FH and I love it at those resorts. Never had a bad trip yet with them

Re: Honeymoon Question

Some things I use a travel agent for and others I don't. I'm gonna use one for our HM bc she's a good friends mom and she kicks butt. I know she'll get us the best possible deal and let us know of things we shouldn't miss out on and others that we can skip.

Re: Honeymoon Question

I booked Sandals back in July during one of their sales and then I checked an another sale was going on that was even cheaper so I had my travel agent call and get me the better price. The sale that is going on now is $500 more than I paid.

Don't be fooled by the sale, they always run them.
