Honeymoon question..

Honeymoon question..

So, FH and I know that we are going to the wine country in California for our honeymoon. However, when we went to go and book a place they said that they were not accepting reservations for March until mid November!!!

Does that seem right!?! We checked out a couple of other places who said the same thing. We only found 1 that would book us now.

I thought that Honeymoon's had to be scheduled way in advance. November is 4 months before the wedding. I don't want to wait until then and then find out every good place is booked!!

What should I do? Or any suggestions of places that you know are good in CA wine country?

Re: Honeymoon question..

Unfortunately - most places have limits as to when they book reservations. For some major chains, its' 11 months in advance... for the smaller places, it could be 4 to 6 months.

My suggestions:
1st ... wait out the time the hotel tells you.. and book it that day.

2nd.. look into some travel agents - some places have contracts with hotels (big or small) that will allow early bookings

3rs .. have a back up plan... just in case you can't get into the places you want

Hope this helps...coming from a former travel agent!

it usually best to wait about 4-6 months prior anyway, you get better deals then. when rates are first released, they are at their highest.

That actually shocks me! My FH and I stayed at this beautiful inn in Sonoma in September and we definitely booked it many months in advance. We stayed in a large suite but the innkeeper showed us the honeymoon suite and it was amazing.

I highly recommend this place in Sonoma. Personally, we decided Napa was a bit too touristy so went here and ate at some of the most amazing restaurants in the country. I highly recommend this inn and their honeymoon suite!

Really! I will have to check it out. I never thought of the Sonoma valley. I just was told that Napa was the place to go. But it makes sense about Napa being to touristy. I don't want.

Re: Honeymoon question..

I am having trouble trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon as well...We are getting married in late september...I fell in love with sandles regency in st. lucia however I'm concerned with the rainy season. I do not know if I should take the risk..has anyone been to st. lucia in september or october? is the resort empty during that time? or is it lively?
I've already been to aruba, so thats out of the question. any advice?

That's crazy! I would feel super anxious because I am one of those people who like to get things done way in advance.

I think you should wait it out if you really want to go there. The rooms won't be booked up if reservations are open to everyone at the same time. Good Luck!

Hey - not sure if you're going to sonoma, but if you are - I have a restaurant recommendation. It's called 'The General's Daughter' and it was one of the most amazing meals I've ever had, AND it's very romantic. FH and I still talk about the meal (and this was a year and a half ago)!

We didn't stay in wine country overnight - so I don't have hotel rec's
