Honeymoon Question with Poll...please vote!

My FH does not want to go away on a long honeymoon right after the wedding...we both are scared to fly...so we would like to do a cruise out of NY...so we decided to wait a good 5 or 6 months after the wedding til there is one available out of NY

He is working so hard on the house and we want to enjoy it for the summer as much as possible
I also dont like going away to where it is Hot out when it is hot here in NY, id rather go away when its cold so i can really feel like im on vacation...

ok long story short...i have been thinking, after the wedding and the sunday brunch, are we just supposed to go back to work on monday?

I would really like to go away somewhere close to an inn and spa type of place maybe in CT not so far away for 2 or 3 nights, somewhere with internet so he can work (hes a workaholic)

Just wondering how important you girls and your FH's think it is to get away immediately after the wedding.

any comments are appreciated

We're going away a month after the HM, so we are both going back to work that monday. But since you guys are waiting such a long time to go on the HM, I would definitely go away for a couple of days. I hear Mystic, CT is really nice. Or even Atlantic City (nice spas there). What about going up to Canada...just throwing out ideas.

Thanks i wish it was a month after, we are going early january 2009! 12 night cruise though,
I am searching some Inns now, hoping he agrees with me! keeping my fingers crossed

We're going on a cruise too in January 09 (out of PR though). I'm sure a bed and breakfast would be nice and romantic.

I voted for other.

It sounds as tho you and your FH have come up with an idea that works best for you guys and that is all that matters.
Wait til your HM can be EXACTLY what you want it to be.
But, IMO, take a few days to yourselves to enjoy and relish in your new life together. If you can get away with not having to return to work right away then def go for it.

I'd definitely go away for a few days if you are waiting 6 months for your honeymoon. I wouldn't do Atlantic City -- very crazy busy.
I went to Cape Cod a couple of years ago during the summer, and it was beautiful. I think a 4-5 hour drive. We drove through Mystic, which someone suggested, which looked beautiful and is a little closer.

definitely go away for a night or two....a b&b, a nice hotel, a spa.....whatever it is.....the whole wedding planning can be so stressful, it's nice to get those couple of days alone, with nothing to think about with your hubby before getting back into the daily routine of work. fh & i were so going to take at least 2 days if he couldn't get some time off from work.....and we were thinking of splurging on a really nice room too

FH & I did this last summer....went to mystic and stayed there for a night (I took him to the aquarium where they had penguin petting...he loves penguins) and then we spent a few days at cape cod......our door opened out to the beach, it was beautiful and relaxing.....great choice for a couple of days (but it is a bit of a drive....so i'd suggest more than 2 if you're going there)

Don't worry about it not being a 'real honeymoon'... Your honeymoon will be wonderful and special no matter what, even if you go away for a night or two earlier in the season.

I can't imagine waking up married for the first time on Sunday and going to work on Monday either! Hey, if you want to go to CT, you should spend a night or two at the inn where I'm getting married... just a suggestion...

i would definitely go away somewhere soon after...like you said even somewhere close for a few days to get away. Go away to a spa for the weekend, or maybe go to AC.

FH and I were considering holding off the honeymoon for a few months but decided not to. I don't think anything can replace the excitement of the first few days/weeks that you got married. That's the way it was with my engagement anyway. Of course I am excited about it everyday and sometimes am still in shock that all this is happening and I really am getting married!! but still, there is nothing like when that feeling is fresh and new. The very first days after the wedding will probably give you a rush of excitement and it will be a great time to go away somewhere and take it all in!

i would definately go away for a few days if you can. There are some beautiful bed and breakfasts in New Hope, PA and area that might be suitable, or like you said Mystic CT is supposed to be nice.

I would def. say do a night or two away...Mystic is great! We stayed at The Inn at Mystic...they have amazing rooms with fireplace and jacuzzi and a really good restaurant.
