Did anyone do this? Did you book a trip you couldn't really afford and then cross your fingers that people would do that? My family is not the money-giving type, so I'm not sure it would work. I'd like to hear HONEST opinions. If anyone's done it and not liked it, I'd really like to hear why. Vice versa, too. Thanks!

Re: Honeymoon registry
I know people have mixed feelings about this. I personally think it's fine but my Mom was against it. She thought it was wrong. I didn't end up doing it b/c where I booked didn't have it.

Re: Honeymoon registry
Yeah, I think my mom will have mixed feelings too. I wonder why! What do you mean your place didn't have it? I thought you just book the trip and then go through one of the honeymoon registry sites and they basically give you the cash or something. Maybe I've got the whole thing wrong. Hmmmm. I wonder........

Re: Honeymoon registry
Personally, I think its kind of tacky. Basically you asking people to pay for your honeymoon (which they will do anyway through their money gifts). We just booked a honeymoon that we can really afford. Even though it wasnt our dream honeymoon (it was way to expensive) we decided to just find something more affordable and do the more expensive trip as anniversary thing or sometimes in the future. And since Im not really willing to cut corners for the actual wedding cutting corners for the honeymoon made since.

Re: Honeymoon registry
Good point. I just don't think we'll get any money gifts. I hope we can afford to do something other than something like two days at a B&B in NY somewhere. Everything's getting so expensive!!!

Re: Honeymoon registry
We're doing it, but mostly because we live overseas while having the wedding in NY, so it wouldn't make much sense to lug tons of gifts over--plus all the voltage would be off. I did ask my family how they felt about it before I fully decided.

Re: Honeymoon registry
from what i see honeymoon registries is for people to purchase specific things you can do on your HM...i remember when this was talked about on here and i used to think it was for ppl to help pay for your honeymoon and everybody said no its not like that...for example someone can get you a dinner at a restaurant one night, or some excursion like swimming with dolphines, or massages at a spa and things like that. I never looked it up to know exactly how it is but from what other girls have said on here it seems like its used just for things like that

Re: Honeymoon registry
i just saw this site now so it can also go towards the suite or airfare, but it looks like somebody would pay for the airfare themselves, not like they put money towards you paying off your whole honeymoon...or somebody would pay for the suite themselves
i don't think it's tacky.. but if u think u'r family wouldn't give monetary gifts they prob wont' do that either.. if they are more traditional then they are going to b looking to give u actual gifts.. what u can do is register at bed bath adn beyond.. if they buy things off the registry from there u can return it all for cash...
also, u can find a cheap honeymoon.. BELIEVE ME!! u do not have to go through a travel agent.. start with setting a realistic budget for u'r self and then think about the types of places u want to go.. i'm not a travel agent but i'm extremely talented at finding cheap vacations.. fm if u want some help.. i got fh's and my honeymoon for under 4500k.. and that includes
airfare to PR for a 7 day royal carribean cruise followed by airfare from PR to jamaica 5 days at couple swept away in a mid tier room airfare from jamaica back to NY..
