Honeymoon VENT!

So, we're thinking we would like to go to one of the St. Lucia Sandals resorts for our HM, but it's so complicated! There are 3 different Sandals resports with so many different room categories, 2 airports to choose from, and then flights

There are direct flights from JFK and back, but we aren't coming back to NY after the honeymoon -- I go to school out of state and FH has a job there. All of the return flights are either 1 stop with an 18+ hour connection, or 2 stops. Blegh!

Is one airport better than the other? One is a big airport but 90 min from the resorts, while the other is really small but 15 minutes away. I would normally stick to the big one but it's tempting to go to the closer one.

I don't know if it's better to stay at the Grand or the Recency, and don't even know where to start with rooms!

I spoke to one travel agent who was pressuring me to stay at the Regency, to stay in a room with butler service (I don't need or even want someone else unpacking or packing for me -- is there any other reason to have a butler?) and to fly to/from the smaller airport. I don't know if I agree with her. What do you ladies think?

I stayed at the Sandals Regency a few years ago and loved it. We met other couples who came to our resort from the other ones and said the Regency is the best one. Personally I dont think you need butler service, we stayed in a room overlooking the ocean without a butler and it was amazing.

Hi. I just booked my HM to Sandals St. Lucia. We are staying at the Grand and asked the travel agent to give us a room in the middle category. FH and I both felt that it was a waste of money to have butler service BUT that being it was our honeymoon, we should splurge a little and get a room that has room service (so if we want to be lazy and not leave the room, we can have food delivered). Not all of their rooms have room service- only their middle and higher end rooms do. FM if you need/want any help with planning it. We just did ours two weeks ago and are very happy with everything the TA booked for us (room and airfare). HTH

Oh and we had the same issues picking between the Regency or the Grand. I've heard good things about both. We went with the Grand bc FH's best friend went there on his HM two years ago and raved about it. But I've also heard great reviews about the regency. Don't stress too much. Sandals allows you can use all three places restaurants and ammenities, regardless of which resort you chose to stay at.

dont waste your money on regency!
beware of the sulfer smell if you go on tours!

The smaller airport is in Castries (north end of the island) only allows smaller aircraft to land which are the flights that come from San Juan, PR. You might have more options if you fly into PR and then take the smaller craft into Castries which is as your TA said minutes from the Sandals resorts.
