Honeymoon - What would you do?

Honeymoon - What would you do?

So here is the deal - I am getting married on a Saturday the 8th and FH and I wanted to do a full 2 week HM (leave Monday after wedding). Well two of my college friends just announced they are getting married the 22nd of July in Maine (thus to make their wedding we would need to cut our HM short 2 or 3 days).

So here is the dilemma. So I figured we would just cut the two days out - it ***** but it is only two days (and besides it will save us some $$$!). FH, however, does not want to cut out any of our HM days and wants to put off the honeymoon till after my friend's wedding. The thought of going back to work for two weeks between my wedding and HM is just horrid to me! What would you do?

I'm going through the same thing, my friend is getting married two weeks after us, and i was thinking about cutting ours short and coming home the day of the wedding or the night before. I would't wait 2 weeks an then go but those are my feelings, I would be way too excited i wouldn't want to wait or go back to work! But you have to do what you have to do!

I agree with you with wanting to cut the HM short, it stinks but I think it's better than postponing it or missing your friend's wedding. JMO!!

Going back to work after the wedding sounds awful to me too! I would cut the HM short -- and save those extra days for another vacation, maybe to celebrate your 6 month anniversary?

If you are good friends with these people, then I think you should cut the honeymoon short. Otherwise, I would just miss the wedding.

now that i think about it more (and i'm going through it also) I'm thinking about just telling my friend that we will be on our honeymoon, I mean someone can't get annoyed at that, i might just miss their wedding i dont want to cut our honeymoon short, it's a once in a lifetime thing

Here is an option...Cut the HM short by 2 days but extend your HM in Maine for those 2 days...There are so many beautiful hotels & Maine is gorgeous in July!

That is a great idea! Of course even in July the beach water is chilly - but Maine is gorgeous in the summer! I definitely cant miss their wedding - they are close college friends (and I was friends with both the Bride and the Groom). Maybe I can convince FH that we should stay a few days in Portland (he isn't quite the Maine fan I am )

I was wondering the same. Conigs25 who is one of my BMs almost got married two weeks after us, and we would have cut it short for her. There aren't too many others I would do it for. Hope this doesn't sound too selfish.

I agree with you wanting to cut the HM short to be at your friends wedding.

My FH isn't the Maine fan either...Where is the wedding in Maine??? Maybe you can go stay in Boothbay Harbor or Camden...That is more of the honeymoon spots rather then Portland which is the city! I am not sure if you are very familiar with Maine but I can help! my family has a house there since 1950, so I can help you...FM if you want

i agree --- i would only postpone a honeymoon if it was something huge (like you couldn't get out of work). I mean, why would you want to postpone the whole thing because of only 2-3 days?

OMG I would die if I had to go back to work and then leave for the HM. No way, I would cut it short a few days...then maybe take a mini HM AGAIN after your friends wedding. Like a long weekend or something

The wedding is in Brunswick at my old college - so I am excited to go visit! It is very close to Portland and not terribly far from Boothbay Harbor. If we do decide to go up the coast a bit more, I will definitely FM you for hot tips! (all my Maine knowledge is relegated to a short driving distance from Brunswick!)

It would depend on how close I was with the couple. If we were close, I would cut the HM short by 2 days but if not, I would miss the wedding.
