Honeymooning in Costa Rica

Original post by tarakinspa

I was talking with a friend today who went last year and although they had known someone who owned a house on the beach from who they rented from she said it was beautiful and very affordable. She said someone else she knew went there and got one of those little bungalows that have the glass floor with the fish underneath like they have in tahiti which I know i wont be able to afford,

Any feedback?

almost everywhere takes dollars and prices things in $. It was only in small rural areas that we had to use colons.

All the hotel prices are in $$, so the prices you're seeing on the web are $$.

because the room rates seemed pretty reasonable from 140 and up a night

its reasonable for the US - actually high for Costa Rica in comparison to the majority of their hotels. Thats why its such a great deal.

Also, rates change dramatically based on season.

I'd recommend Arenal and a beach/rain forest destination - Manual Antonio, Osa, etc.

You're at the very beginning of the rainy season (same time we went). The heavy rains come in the fall.

Or if you want to skip Arenal (due to rain concerns), you could do two places along the coast.

Punta Islita for a few days and then Manual Antonio/Quepos, would be lovely.

Do you know if you'll be renting a car? or flying? or both?

OMG lisa you are awesome!! Those pictures were fabulous! i loved the fact that they came out so big!!

If late april is the beginning of the rainy season do you think late may is stupid to go? Are there any other websites that have general tourist info?

I just really want to do something nice and it seems like Costa Rica has a nice mix, and affordable which is my major concern....did you price out other destinations and find costa rica to be the most affordable?

I love that pic of the bed...where is that...looks like my little bungalow idea hee hee you know how obsessed i am with that whole idea.

Thanks for all your help lisa, i still have alot of research to do but this is helping me get started. I mean if i go into it knowing Costa Rica has what I want plus is really affordable..why waste my time looking elsewhere right.

I wil probably email also soon you if you dont mind.

Although it rained the days that spent at Tabacon, it was a light rain which you don't mind when you're sitting in the hot springs anyway, we still had a great time there!
