Honeymooning in Hawaii

FH & I are investigating into Hawaii for our honeymoon...I know many of you are going to Hawaii for honeymoons...Where is everyone staying, flying into, etc?? What island is the best (ie most to do)? What on average is everyone paying (if you don't mind me asking)? How long are you going for??

TIA

Re: Honeymooning in Hawaii

We just booked our HM last week. We are staying 3 nights in Oahu (Hilton Village), 4 nights in Maui (Hyatt Regency), and 3 night in Las Vegas (Mandalay Bay). We are flying first class to Hawaii, but coach on the way back because first class was booked. I told FH we waited to long to book. Anyway, we are flying United airlines. I think everything, including renting a jeep in Maui, came to $6500.
Good luck!

Re: Honeymooning in Hawaii

FI & I are going to Hawaii for 11 nights...flying coach (1st class is too expensive, and we would rather pay for better hotels than flying time). We are first flying into Kuaui and staying at the Hyatt for 4 nights... we picked here to go first, becuase people have said there is not tons to do in Kauai, it is suppossed to be extremely beautiful and relaxing. (we are expecting to be tired from the flight and wedding, and here is were we will probably do the most relaxing) We booked a helicoper ride here.

Then we are off to Oahu for 2 nights staying at the Halakulani...we are going to Oahu becuase FI wants to see Pearl Harbor.

Then we are going to Maui staying at the Fairmont for 5 nights. We booked a Laui (sp?) in maui.

I hope this helps you out....We picked the hotels based on recommendations from people we know that have stayed there. Let me know if I can help out anymore....I know a bunch of people that have been to Hawaii...

We are staying at the 4 Seasons in Maui (5 nights) and the Marriot in Kauai (3 nights). We are flying American Airlines. With the inter-island flight its costing us $4700 including breakfast and cars in the islands).

Re: Honeymooning in Hawaii

I spent 6 nights in Kaui. We stayed at the Sheraton. It was nice. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY and helpful. We had a poolside room which was OK - nothing special. Our room was a trek to the main lobby though - the hotel is big. Every morning there was a pretty big 'continental breakfast.' We were expecting coffee and bagels but there was a huge selection. They had everything from muffins to salmon and rice!

We spent another 6 nights in Maui at the Fairmont Kea Lani. This hotel was amazing. We had a suite....living room, small kitchen, HUGE bathroom, bedroom and balcony. We were expecting snotty service but everyone was helpful and nice. The shops and resturants in this hotel were pretty upscale.

Of the two islands, we loved Kaui the most. We did alot more on Kaui than on Maui. I don't know if it was because we were too tired after Kauai or if it was because there really wasn't much to do on Maui. We did a day trip to Oahu and saw Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, diamond head and all the other touristy places.

We paid around $7300. We flew coach on American Airlines and also rented a jeep on both islands. I wanted to fly first class but DH said thought we could put the money we would have spent towards something else. The flight from JFK to LA wasn't bad at all. Flying from LA to Lihue, Kaui was TORTURE. The seats were small! I wish I had bitched and moaned to DH about getting First Class seats. Regardless, we had an amazing time. I wanna go back I hope I helped!
