Honeymooning in Mexico?
What are everyone's thoughts on honeymooning in Mexico? I am nervous with all of the recent reports of violence...including the beheaded tourist bus! Do you think it is okay or should we look elsewhere for our 2013 honeymoon?

Not sure if you booked yet or not but FH and I stayed at the Royal in Cancun this past May and it was beautiful. The hotel zone is not a very dangerous place at all, there were lots of people going on excursions and we even walked around outside the resort and there was never any problems. If you did book it and need a shuttle USA Transfers was excellent, I highly recommend them.
I have also personally stayed in the Royal in Cancun and it was amazing. Every room there is a suite and all of the rooms have an ocean view. I went in 2007 and I believe it was just recently renovated. They even have rooms that you can LITERALLY swim up to. If you are staying on the main floor, you can walk out of the back door of your room and into your own private pool which (I think) connects to the main pool in the resort. It was beautiful. Cancun is such a fun place. I have been there twice and nothing has ever happened (and I went when swine flu was going on down in Mexico!) You can walk off the resort and onto the strip with no problems at all. FM me if you want more info. Ive both partied and relaxed there.
I went to Cozumel Mexico a couple months ago which isn't too far from Cancun and it was absolutely gorgeous. We had no problems whatsoever with violence. All the locals were very friendly. I felt very safe. We rented a moped scooter and drove around the entire island and it was great. If you stay in the touristy areas Im sure you will be fine. Mexico is a beautiful place and an awesome place for a honeymoon!
Situations are never the same, Mexico is a beautiful place. I have been there couple of years ago and it was awesome. Still if you have doubts then have a chat with the hotel you booked.
As long as you stay in the tourist areas, you will be more than fine and very safe! We go to cancun every year and actually got engaged there at Beach Palace. We have never felt uncomfortable or worried while we are there.
