Has anyone taken their honeymoon in Greece? Could you provide any kind of costing or hotel information? I'm just trying to gauge where I should be on this!
I was hoping to go to Crete, Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens.
Any info would be so helpful! Thank you!

Re: Honeymoons in Greece
I haven't honeymooned in Greece, but I was in Athens and Kefalonia last year.
In Athens, I stayed with FH cousin for only a couple of days. On the island, a lot of hotels were like bed-and-breakfasts run by the locals.
Have you tried posting on the Greek Brides Thread? I'm sure you can get lots of great info there!
If you live in or near Queens, there is an Olympic travel agency in Astoria. FM me if you would like more info.
HTH!

Re: Honeymoons in Greece
We looked into it for ours and the cheapest we where quoted was $6300 for only airfare and lodging! food was not included! This was only for 8 nights! It is very expensive b/c you have to fly between the islands as well!! A cruise woulfd be more cost effective imo as food would be included! They did not offer cruises within the parameters of our wedding day and when we wanted to take a honeymoon!

I know that from Athen to Crete, you need to fly but I believe from Crete to Santorini, then Santorini to Mykonos you can take a ferry. Not sure of the cost though. You would fly from Myokons back to Athens.
Thanks so much for the info, I'll look into the Greek Bride thread too!

The flights between islands are not that expensive. You can fly on Air Aegean for 35 euros one way (if you book early). The ferries are cheap too. The dolphins cost about 20 euros and the slow boats (they take longer) are below 20 euros.

Re: Honeymoons in Greece
We're going to Greece in less than 3 weeks on our honeymoon (Athens, Rhodes, Crete, and Santorini). If you go during the summer, the hotels are significantly more expensive. The prices are lower when we're going because late September-October is getting towards the off season. The weather is still nice, but it starts to get cooler. We're taking a ferry between Crete and Santorini, but we're flying in between the other islands. We booked the honeymoon in June and the flights between the islands were somewhere between $100 and $175. However, some of the flights weren't direct and required a quick stopover in Athens. FM me if you want more details about our trip.

$100 to $175 seems a lot.... we were there the end of July/August (which is the high season) and the flights were 35 euros....for direct flights...who did you book with??

Re: Honeymoons in Greece
we went to greece for our honeymoon --mykonos, santorini and athens for a total of 16 days --it was not cheap at all but that is b/c we stayed at the really nice hotels (with deluxe accomodations) --the mykonos blu in mykonos, the katikies in santorini and the grand bretagne in athens...
what time of year are you going? it is much cheaper if it is not high season...
oh --the transportation between islands was not that expensive at all...

We are holding off on going on our HM because we have a wedding in Scotland that we need to go to, so we'd like to combine the trips. Two weeks in Greece, then fly to Scotland from Athens. It would be end of June/early July.

Re: Honeymoons in Greece
were going to Greece! 2 days in Athens at the Athens Hilton, 3 days in Mykonos at the Mykonos Grand and 3 days in Santorini at Katikies. They are all luxury hotels and we upgraded the rooms. We are flying from athens to mykonos and taking a boat from mykonos to santorini and then the same on the way back. its costing about 6000 for flying and hotels.. not cheap, but its just once! Breakfast is included at all of the hotels. Plus it all depends on when you go. were going the end of september and thats not the high season. the costs vary greatly for high season!! check out tripadvisor.com
