If you are going to Hawaii or have already went, where did you stay in either Maui or Kaui? I think we are going to say at the Hyatt in Kaui b/c I have heard such good things, but we are still undecided on Maui. We are trying to weigh location vs. privacy. I would love to stay in a private villa type thing or something. Any input would be great! Thanks!

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
.We stayed at the Hyatt Kauaii & LOVED!!!!! it. I would recommend it to anyone as the place to go.
We stayed at the Hyatt in Mauii also, but were very dissapointed there. Maybe b/c of the time we traveled, or b/c it was the last place we went to ... but it was not anything like Kauaii. Its in a very commercial area, has a very small pool & was not as new or plush. IMO ... there are better places in Mauii to stay. I think we missed the boat on Mauii & would have rather gone to the Four Seasons or the Grand Wailea ... they more upscale & have more ammenities to offer HM'ers. People may disagree, but I think for the $$, you can do better than Hyatt.
As for length of stay ... most people are surprised when they realize how much there is to do on Kauaii. I wish we had allocated most of our time there & only spend 2 or 3 days in Mauii. Kauaii is more of the tropical Hawaiian destination that we wanted. Mauii, like I said, is much more commercial.
But you'll love it, any way you cut it! If you haven't already ... Great Book to buy ... Hawaii for Dummies (By Frommer's) at buy.com. Easy to read & absolutely full of good tips and recommendations down to accurate phone #'s & web pages for saving $$ & booking reservations in advance.
FM me if you have any other questions! Hope this helps!
completely agree with Christine in Hyatt Maui - we were a bit disappointed with that, especially after just leaving Kauai's Hyatt! It's still a great hotel, but just not the same as Kauai's.....You have many more options for top notch hotels on Maui.

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
I second Christine's recommendation - Hawaii for Dummies is awesome!
I am going there in 17 short days....
6 nights in Maui at the Grand Wailea chose it b/c 2 of my friends raved about it, the pool complex is the best in Maui and from what I hear the rooms and spa are amazing! The Travel Channel ranked in I think #5 of the best resorts in Hawaii and it was #1 in Maui. I know people who has also stayed at the Four Seasons and loved it too.
4 nights n Kauai at the Hyatt - everyone just raves and raves about the Hyatt - I hear the Princeville is gorgeous too, on the other side of the island but not the same as the Hyatt with those river pools!

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
I did Grand Wailea in Maui and Hyatt in Kauai and recommend them both! I did 7 in Maui and 3 in Kauai and also wished I had more time in Kauai. I would do 4-5 nights in Kauai. Neither Maui or Kauai have extremely booming nightlifes but both have plenty to do in the day - plus you need time to relax and enjoy the resorts!

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
Thanks for all the input! We are doing 6 days each in Kauai and maui and I can't wait! I think it is settled - Hyatt in Kauai and then maybe the Grand Wailea or some other hotel in Maui. I've got some more research to do. Thanks for the help!

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
I am staying at the Hyatt in Maui and Kauai. My friend works for the Hyatt in Maui so she is able to get us a good rate for both hotels. The one good thing I have heard about the Hyatt in Maui is they do a couples massage outside. I can't wait!!

Re: Honeymoon's in Hawaii
I think if you're going to stay at Hyatt in Mauii, then go there first. We thought that most of what we felt was b/c it was not as great & we ended our HM feeling dissapointed! If its the first place you go ... then everything just gets better from there!
