I see the post of the poem. I think thats a great idea.

I was wondering if anyone is doing/or did something different to honor a passed on love one.

The flowers in the church will be in memory of Matt's grandfather who passed on in January.

We will probably put their names on our prgrams and mention some of them in a speech during the reception.

I am going to do a small collage of all our grandparents and put it one the placecard table with a candle lit throughout the reception. Maybe a framed poem next to it or something.

I mentioned the deceased in my programs and we dedicated roses to Mary in honor of them also. I just posted this to 2003wedding so you may have already seen it, but here it goes:

Here is how I worded it:

DEDICATION OF ROSES TO OUR BLESSED MOTHER IN HONOR OF OUR DEPARTED LOVED ONES

LISTED NAMES AND RELATIONSHIP

PRESENTED MY KELLY & SCOTT (THAT'S US)

And then on the last page after Thanking everyone who was there, we wrote this:

PLEASE REMEMBER OUR DEPARTED LOVED ONES WHO WALK WITH US TODAY. WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE WITH US IN SPIRIT.

I'm honoring the memory of my great aunt (Who was more like a second grandmother to me) who passed away. To honor her we are going to make a donation to the national diabetes association/foundation-since she died from complications of diabetes. they will give us the tents or the scrolls (up to us which one) to display on the tables explaning it.

To remember my mom, I didn't want to do anything that would really draw attention to it - I knew that that would be too hard for myself, my dad and some of the other friends and family - so, I asked the florist to put a small bouquet of daisy's (her very favorite flower and what she used in her wedding) at my table (they actually ended up at the cake tabel but that's a different story). It was a way for me to honour and remember her without getting myself too upset.

I am having my parents and FH parents wedding pic on the place card table and will also dance with my brother to a song in memory of her.

I want my sister, my brother, and myself to light a candle for my mom during the ceremony. I am also thinking of doing flowers in her honor at the altar or even a picture at the altar! My mom would laugh at the idea cause she loved attention! I am definitely putting a picture of my mom in the programs! I am still thinking of more ideas; my wedding will be dedicated to my mom!

At the ceremony we are going to do the memorial candle and also have a dedication to my grandmother ( we are getting married on her birthday) and then at the reception I will put a picture of her with the memorial candle and the poem someone recently posted at the table where my guest/photo album will be.
