i had my first, and what i was hoping last, hair and make-up trial this weekend. it was HORRIBLE. the girl who did my hair had no idea what she was doing - i pretty much could have done what she did (curled it all with a curling iron and put it in pony tail holder) and it looked nothing like the picture i showed her. wasn't even a nice looking modification of the picture!
the make-up....eyeliner was all over my eyelids, my lips weren't completely filled in with lipstick and within an hour i looked like a raccoon.
what's worse, it cost almost $200.
guess it's back to the drawing board!

You paid her after that? Does she know your feelings? I'm so sorry it went so poorly. It's a good thing you got a trial though. Imagine if you didn't!

yeah. i proably shouldn't have. i probably also should have skipped the make-up after i saw how the hair turned out. but of course i didn't think of that until after i had left.
omg, i'd be devastated the day of if i hadn't gotten a trial!

I am sooo sorry! Who did you use? I really want to know because I don't want to pay someone for a terrible job! I rely on you girls to help me with your good (and not so good) experiences!
On another note... I didn't know they charged so much for hair and makeup! That seems completely ridiculous - especially for a trial! I could see if it was 'day of' ... but a test run???

awww I am sorry you had a problem ~ $200 seems like a lot of $$ for a trial... I am possibly using M I A from B R I D A L L O U N G E ...
She is Great... plus she does Hair & Makeup...
I am possibly going to use her for my makeup: If I choose to do the airbrushing... Since my MOH does Hair/Makeup 2... (but I booked her for my bridal party) She is AWESOME! Good Luck

Try Susanna @ Posh [on Hempstead Avenue in Malverne] She did Sarah Jessica Parker's hair on the set. I went to her for my engagement party up-do and it came out BEAUTIFUL, very elegant.. I first didn't like it but then she showed me all the angles and it looked GREAT!

I had a horrible hair and makeup trial, and i got so frustrated thinking I was never going to find anyone. It was actually a vendor on here, and girls raved about these two people I was soo disappointed. It stinks to pay all that money and it comes out horrible.
My hair was a disaster, she also didnt use a curling iron, & did the curls by hand. The bun was stuck to my head it was aweful My makeup was alright, it wasn't terrible, but after 2 hrs my fake eyelashes started to come off FI was hysterical, little did he know i paid 100 bucks for that

I had a TERRIBLE make up trial. After having a bridezilla fit, FH came to see how I looked. He said I didn't look 'that bad'. I really didn't even want to pay her. FH paid her a tip as well.

I am sorr you girls are having problems with your hair and makeup..
I still say go to Cosmetic Artistry by Mya on the Vendors page.. I think she did a great job with mine....
My mom loved it.
She is on of the makeup artist who makes you look like you have no make up on

I had SIX, so I definitely sympathize Not all of them were 'horrible', but I will say that 4 out of the 6 were HORRENDOUS!

omg!!! that's terrible. i'm sorry.
the biggest challenge with this is that i have 9 people that need hair & make-up done and i don't want anyone to have to get up at 5am. so i figured a salon with multiple stylists/artists would be the best way to go. i'm a bit bummed about it b/c there are a couple of 'independent' stylists/artists who have been highly recommended on this board that i would have liked to try.
