HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE NEWS...update

Original post by pigs222seal

My grandpa died today unexpectantly today...need hugs.

Thank you girls for your sweet thoughts, prayers, and hugs. This is my first loss and it is hard for me to comprehend. He was like a father to me. I lived with him and my grandma for years before moving in with my fiance. I miss him and can't get him out of my head; I am waiting for him to walk out of his bedroom; I must be in shock. This was so unexpectant. I saw him Tuesday night when I came for my mail.........he was fine!!! I just don't understand. We are waiting on the report from the medical examiner now. His 78 birthday is in two weeks.

Just found out from the medical examiner that the casue of my grandfathers dealth was Pulmonary Embolism:

Pulmonary embolism is the sudden blockage of an artery in the lung. Once the artery is blocked, usually by one or more blood clots, oxygen levels in the blood drop, and blood pressure in the lungs rises.

Pulmonary embolism caused by large clots can cause sudden death, usually within 30 minutes of when symptoms begin.

my father was diagnosed with lung cancer at age 45 and a week later, still in the hospital (he was supposed to be released) he died of a PE....so I know how you feel! it is a terrible thing - but you should remember your grandpa lived a very long life and be thankful you had so much time with him
