I read somewhere that the bride is supposed to get gifts for everyone who throws her bridal shower (in my case - that's the entire party and my mom). Is that true? If so, when do you give them if the shower is a surprise?

I am going to buy them enough crap as it is lol
Maybe I will give them like a gift card or something and ahve my mom or my FMIL hold onto them for whenever it is.

I've never heard of this either-- i'm assuming the gifts you give your bridesmaid suffice for the entire wedding planning process--that's the point of the bridesmaid gift ...as a thanks for 'ALL' their help through out, not just for the wedding, but in it's entirety.

I don't think a gift is needed for the people throwing the bridal shower IN ADDITION to the gift for your bridal party at the time of the wedding.
Being a bridesmaid is EXPENSIVE, as we all know. We have to pay for our dress, hair/makeup, flight to the wedding location, hotel and a gift on top of all that. I think one nice gift for the bridal party is enough.

i never heard of this.... particualrly since it's your BP that should be hosting this and msot people get their girls something which is given to them at the wedding.
i think if it was your MIL or an aunt or something like that was hosting, it mighht be nice, but if it's your BP and your Mom... NO.
