I love my mother dearly and for 60 years old she looks amazing. She's stayed fit and goes to the gym alot.
I would like her to look incredible at the wedding - possibly in a strapless dress or something with a slit up the side.
She keeps looking at the very matronly dresses with jackets to wear over them. Or suits with long sleeves and really long skirts.
I've told her how great she looks and that she should consider a different look. After all, she's the mother of the bride - not the grandmother. She says it's not appropriate for her age and she'll leave the sexiness to the 'young people'
Any of you have this issue? Were you able to convince your mom to glam it up a bit?

I think telling her and showing her are two different things... show her pictures of things you like, then maybe she'll feel different. Just saying its strapless or has a slit up the leg DOES kind of make it seem inappropriate for a mom but maybe if she saw what it can tastefully look like, she'd change her mind.

My mom didn't want to go with the traditional MOB dress. She didn't want frumpy is what she kept saying BUT she did want a jacket. She ended up getting a sleeveless dress BUT she will be getting a jacket to wear with it.

omg i have the opposite prob.... my mom looks good for her age too, but i hate that she wants something super sexy... i want her to look sophisicated... im not saying cover up... just not a slit up to the crotch or anything

my mom NEVER dresses up..she's a plain jane, but we both decided that she should just try on anything withou judging too much. She went for a strapless dress and it comes with a almost sheer jacket with flower appliques that are also on the dress and I was so surprised at the choice we both liked! Sometimes you never know....its good to just go dress shopping and pic random dresses that you probably wouldn't normally go for...it worked for us lol

OMG that's a very similar dress to what my mom got!!!!! I think it's pretty appropriate for the MOB. I want her to look great but not steal my thunder!!!!

exactly! plus I'm an only child and this is her ONLY time to look liek this. She was like is this too much?? but then we were like no! you're the MOB and your only time, go for it!! hah

My mom went from a size 14 to a size 6. This is the dress she wore. I thought she looked hot with her new body!!
Show her pictures of some beautiful Montage dresses. They have some classy yet tastefully sexy MOB dresses. Maybe she will like one of those dresses.

No, we've gone looking and I will pull dresses off the rack (similar to the gold dress that is posted) and she will say 'i need long sleeves' and not even try it on.
Sexy is the wrong word - sophisticated is what I meant to say. The ladies in the store tried telling her that all the dresses can have sashes made and they tried showing her things similar to above. But she keeps going for big frumpy dresses with long sleeves and big skirts.\
Maybe I'll just pull the 'it's my wedding and you'll do what I say' card. Ha Ha - no just kidding I would never do that. But it would by nice if she would just try them on.

My mom and MIL looked fantastic at the wedding. My mom was stuck on a matronly dress until she tried hers on and my sister and i told her she HAD to get it.

Thank you. She is turning 50 in november. She worked very hard for my wedding. Iam so proud of her.

Im having the opposite issue! My mom is also a hot mom, she will turn 60 four days after the wedding, she is tall thin and beautiful, and is a former model... And she KNOWS IT! Im so nervous she's going to look too sexy or too Cha Cha especially in front of FH ultra conservative family!!

The second my mom saw a NON MOB dress i took her to get it. She is sooo self conscience but lost SOOO much weight over the last few years. I told her i would be embarassed if she didnt show off what im going to look like when im her age lol

this is my moms dress - she is self conscious so she is having hooks sewn on the dress to keep the wrap on - i think this dress is really good for her - thank god it doesnt look like a grandma dress!

'08 crashing!
Here is my mom, she wanted a fancy dress but didn't want strapless....hers was actually high in the back and with the v-neck had thick straps so she could wear a regular bra. She'll be 58 this year The dress is from Jade by Jasmine, they have a lot of gorgeous but not matronly dresses:
Here is DH's mom, she didn't want to show her arms (she calls them 'nana arms' haha...) even though she's thin--she ended up making her dress, but even with the jacket I think it's less matronly b/c the skirt is more straight:

They have so many dresses to choose from now.. def. take her out looking and maybe have her agree to try on 3 dresses that you pick out ..you never know..she might just like it!
My mom and I deceided she won't be wearing anything matrony lolz..my mom is hot and I want her to look and feel amazingly beautiful at my wedding!! My mom wasn't sure how she was suppose to dress and the woman at the dress store told her that next to the bride she's suppose to be the best dressed woman there..I told my mom to find the fanciest dress she can find!!
