So I decided to use hot rollers/hot curlers on my hair. My hair is usually curly but I figured this will give me a wavy look. Well I got the wavy look but with a whole lotta dry looking frizz.
Does anyone know what I can do to avoid that? Was I supposed to put some kind of serum on my hair first to smooth it out? Also....I used them on my hair when it was dry? would it be bad to do it when its wet?

Re: hot rollers
Maybe do it when the hair is slightly damp and put in a serum like Aveda styling serum before? Worth a shot I guess . . . any hair experts out there???

Re: hot rollers
I usually use a serum and let my hair dry as straight as possible, then put the hot rollers in for a wavier look.

Re: hot rollers
Also make sure you let the rollers heat fully before you put them and that you don't take them out too soon. I find it works best on my hair if I let them cool almost all the way before I take them out.

Re: hot rollers
I usually straighten my hair first..
And you have to leave the curlers on until they cool completely..your hair actually locks in style when its cool, not hot.. interesting little tidbit

Re: hot rollers
Here's my confession...I've been using hot rollers everyday since I was 7!!!! I'm a hot roller pro.
You don't need to straighten your hair, but it does need to be fully dried. I just blow dry it any which way and the rollers straighten and smooth while giving my hair a little lift and body. Don't use any serum type stuff, maybe just a little spray on or leave in conditioner.
I sound like a 60yr old housewife!!! Good luck and happy rolling!!!

Re: hot rollers
I straighten first and then put in either Bed Head or Rusk serum before doing anything else to my hair.
