hotel block

when should we block rooms for the OOTers?

and for those girls getting married at FH where do you plan on blocking rooms? the Inn at Fox Hollow is a little expensive and i have heard that they dont allow much partying..
what are the other hotels in the area that you recommend?

TIA!

I actually just looked into this....You can only block 1 year in advance bc they do not have the rates earlier than this.

I think I am just blocking Inn at Fox Hollow, its just more convinent for my guests.

However, I did hear GREAT things about Hilton in Melville....they also provide a shuttle. I checked out the rooms at Best Western/Executive Inn and to be honest I thought it was VERY SMALL and smelt funny. But I have heard good thigns about them too.

Someone told me to check the AAA rate and compare it to the hotel group rate, sometimes its cheaper.

i guess our best bet is to drive out there one day and just stop at all the local hotels.. but i guess it will have to wait til next year! thanks! we definitely will need a shuttle bus!

Re: hotel block

my brother got married at fox hollow last year and they put blocks of rooms at both the Huntington Hilton and the Best Western Executive Inn. Both places ran shuttles for them. FH and I and a bunch of our friends stayed at the Best Western (it was cheaper and closer to Fox Hollow) we only needed a place to crash for about 6 hours since the reception ended at 1 and we had to be up for brunch at 10. a lot of the people that were coming from OOT and spending more than 1 night stayed at the Hilton. The Best Western rooms were perfectly fine for what we needed. We also didn't have any issues with our continued partying. Think of your guests and how much $ they have to spend. That may make your decision easier.

I receive a discount from Executive Inn, so we're blocking that along with Best Western and Inn at Fox Hollow... we'll let our guests decide.

good idea blocking all of them.. but i know that my guests will all want to be at the same hotel to par-tay together.

Re: hotel block

There is a hotel near my hall in jericho and i will probably look into blocking off the rooms about 6 months to a year before hand.
So places have crazy rules and stuff on blocking rooms (we had an issue this past weekend at a poughkeepsie soccer tournament...soooo aggravating) so just be sure to look into that before you book anything!!

The inn at FH is around 189, and when I visited the Executive Inn they said around 139. But a lot of people have said they would pay the 50 extra to be right next door and have the kitchen. I may do the Holiday Inn with the SHuttle and the Inn Next door
