So I'm just about ready to go ahead and set up a block...however, today i went to the hotel's website and put in the dates around New Years this year to see what the price was like and it's about $10-20 cheaper than the block rate I was quoted for the same days in end of 2010/2011. Should I email the woman i was working with at the hotel and ask her if she can give us even more of a discount?? We are getting a good rate as it is but it would be very embarrassing if my guests went online and found that they could have got their rooms even cheaper than if they booked through our wedding block!

Re: hotel block
you should def. call or email her! just explain that there is no point in blocking rooms if your guests can book it themselves for less. i would think they would have to give you the reduced rate anyway? good luck!

Re: hotel block
I would definitely call and ask! There is no harm in that. Maybe there is a specific reason and you'll feel better once you speak to her!

Re: hotel block
Definitely call....aren't blocked rooms like that always supposed to be cheaper than the rate online? Maybe the closer it gets to your wedding, the higher the prices will get online but your reserved rooms will stay at the same price, making them cheaper?? Hmmm...
