So we booked two places for the hotel block. FMIL requested that I find a hotel for under $100, whihc is nearly impossible on LI, especially Labor Day weekend. FH's family are all OOT. But I did find one - the Huntington Country Inn. We got the rooms for $99.
We went there and it was ok, pretty much what you expect from a motel. The reviews online were not great, but I had figured that people would look up the two places and pick the one they want to stay at - you get what you pay for right?
Well I just checked the reviews again and they are just awful. I'm wondering if I should cancel the block all together - I don't want people to think we didn't care enough to pick a nice place....
The choices for that price point is so limited around the RH (CHCC).
What do you girls think?

Re: Hotel block dilemma
I was put in a similar situation by my family and was able to get a Marriott for $109 a night . . . but it's also in May. I would be REALLY hesitant to put a budget motel on my invites. I think people might assume you picked 2 decent places and think they're choosing between a Sheraton and The Ritz Carlton and opt for the cheaper of the two due to not wanting to 'splurge'. At least, this would be my fear. People from out of state usually have NO concept of the prices around here. $100 a night might get them a 4 star hotel in their area . . .
I find that most 'motels' on LI are (sadly) pretty trashy for the most part. I am not familiar with the one you mentioned but if it's anything like the ones I'm picturing I wouldn't let any of my guests stay there. Has your FMIL seen the hotel you're looking at or read the reviews? Maybe that will give her a better idea. Good luck!

Re: Hotel block dilemma
Maybe I should talk to FMIL about it. I have shuttle service from the better hotel (Hilton Garden Inn) not from this one.
I totally get what everyone is saying and I so appreciate the advice!! Thanks girls!!
