Hotel Block Help!

Original post by BNBride60

How much do you think is too much for a hotel room? One of my hotels that I got a quote from just upped the price 'due to availability' - granted I am getting married Labor Day weekend.

I'm in Suffolk too, but I'm a little further west than you. I got quotes from all the hotels around LI MacArthur Airport. I don't know if that's too far from Giorgio's for you.

I blocked at Best Western Riverhead and the rate was $189 a night! I was mortified but they know they are the only game in town in the area!

I think given how far out Giorgio's is the only reason I leaned towards those hotels was the free shuttle...but I don't want to make my guests go broke either. I will do some research and maybe suggest other hotels to them. The only thing is we'll all be in different hotels which will kinda suck. If you found any hotels with good rates though let me know so I can research it. Thanks.

The two places I am torn between are $120 per night and $160 per night....I'm thinking of actually blocking at both and then letting my guests make the call. The cheaper one has no bridal suite and no bar, so I won't be staying there, but it will provide shuttle service to and from my reception. The more expensive one has a bar for an after party and suites, so I'll be staying there one way or the other for the suite. I'm thinking my friends from OOT will want to stay at the place with the bar, but FH's family will prefer the barless and cheaper location.

Is it dumb to block at 2 places?

Thats what we are doing... we are giving our guests options to go either the better higher priced one or the lower budget one.

Yeah I hear you on that. I booked a block at the Holiday Inn in Riverhead for I think $209 the night before and $159 the night off.... I really don't know how to avoid this....my family can only put up so many people

I was quoted 139 for the Wingate in Garden City. I feel like that a lot for February. I might end up going with another hotel.

I have to sign off for now...but if anyone who is planning on or has married out East whether it be a Vineyard, Eastwind, etc. and you have any ideas on reasonable hotels lower than$189, please FM me. I would be sooooo thankful!

I think its a great idea for the 2 blocks... gives guests an option. I would tell them what the more expensive one has so it would be easier for them to make a decision!

Which two hotels are these? im having so much trouble finding a hotel in that area that has a bar. The Courtyard Mariott in Ronk. has rooms for $109 and a great bridal suite BUT the bar closes at 11pm and they charge you $250 to keep it open. I think thats ridiculous!
