Hotel Block Help!

Hotel Block Help!

How much do you think is too much for a hotel room? One of my hotels that I got a quote from just upped the price 'due to availability' - granted I am getting married Labor Day weekend.

depends on your family and friends. . .i have OOT guests coming that would think anything more than $140ish is ridiculous. . .so we're going to have to try and keep it low.

Re: Hotel Block Help!

The two places I am torn between are $120 per night and $160 per night....I'm thinking of actually blocking at both and then letting my guests make the call. The cheaper one has no bridal suite and no bar, so I won't be staying there, but it will provide shuttle service to and from my reception. The more expensive one has a bar for an after party and suites, so I'll be staying there one way or the other for the suite. I'm thinking my friends from OOT will want to stay at the place with the bar, but FH's family will prefer the barless and cheaper location.

Is it dumb to block at 2 places?

I stayed at a hotel for a wedding last september that was almost $300 with tax. It was definitely NOT worth it.

Blocking two places and giving your guests the choice is fine. Just be prepared that most will want to stay where it is less money.

Here is what I did - I only blocked at one, but, I put 3 different hotels on the card that I sent out. That way, if people didn't want to stay there for whatever reason, they had other choices, but, there were not set prices at the others.

That's definitely OK with me - I just want to give those 'big drinkers' the option to continue to party at the hotel bar. We just went to a wedding where the hotel had an after party, and it was almost our favorite part of the night because we finally got to hang out with the bride and groom without interruption.

i am blocking out two hotels also for the same reasons you just listed one has more suites ($170.00 a night) and a bar and the other hotel is cheaper($120.00) leave it up to your guests to decide i wouldnt worry.

Yup, in Connecticut. I forget the name of the place. The hotel was nice, but my room was not worth that amount. My parents bedroom was bigger than the room.

ETS: They did give two options - one was a hotel down the road that was a lot cheaper. The way I saw it was, FH and I are drinking and it's cheaper to stay at the hotel then get into an accident driving to the other place.

Re: Hotel Block Help!

I will FM you all my quotes and info! I did a lot of research and went to about 10 hotels. I booked two.

One had:
free shuttle
free breakfast
pool
cheapest rates- $119 a night

The other had:
free breakfast
free dinner M-Thrs.
pool
In room kitchen, etc
really great accommodations- $139 a night

I told my guests to book the nicer one for the night before the wedding, then the cheap one with the free shuttle for the wedding night. I will be staying at the nicer hotel.

Haha, the same thing happend to us! The after party was awesome! The hotel didnt have a bar though, but everyone brought cases of beer, thats why a hotel that has kitchens or fridges in the rooms is cool!
