HOTEL BLOCK HELP WITH POLL

Okay I have two contracts in front of me, I need some help. It is between the Hyatt and Hampton Inn in garden city, they are directly next to each other. FH says Hampton, he loves their beds & pillows, I keep flip flopping, hence the two contract....Here are the issues:

Rooms: Hampton: doubles & singles they have some suits
Hyatt: Suites double and singles
Breakfast: Hampton: Free Continental & Hot Breakfast
Hyatt: Continental Free, 24 hour Hot food service you pay for
Look: Hampton: Normal Hotel look, Flat screen tv
Hyatt: A little more modern, flat screen tv
Shuttle: Hampton: None, does have discount with some shuttle places
Hyatt: If 10 rooms booked, then a free shuttle for 2 people per room
Meeting Room for brunch: Hampton: $100 for room if 10 rms booked then free, we pay for food
Hyatt: 30 ppl: $550 for hot brkfst Continental $356(yeah it is free without the room)
Upgrades: Hampton: if 10 rm book free upgrae to a suite Hyatt: the shuttle mention above
Price: Hyatt: $149 is $10 More
No financial obligation for rooms not book, but I need to put one on the STD...Thanks ladies

We blocked both and gave our guests a choice by including both on the accommodations card.

I did the same. I blocked rooms at two hotels and gave guests the choice. HTH .

Ok just some advice....after my hotel experience, I would book 2 hotels. I was fighting for rooms a month ago. Even though it goes on your STD, people don't book the rooms and dont think about it until a month away and then they get pissed at you because they can't get a room. I would absolutely put both on your STD. You need to have a back-up hotel.

Thanks ladies, I think I will take your advice and book both.

Tough call!!

I booked at the hampton inn...mainly because I liked the option of the hot breakfast, and we got a free suite there through our CH, and the room for brunch was super cheap (my mom plans to cater herself..but will see how much they will charge to provide the food)

What I do like from the Hyatt is that I think they have a small beer/wine bar for your guests to mingle at, and the shuttle service.

You have to see which options are more important to you...see where you are staying...and if anything book both!!! lol

I tried to switch to the hyatt due to the bar (needed something for after the wedding since my ceremony is over at 6:30), but the brunch room was booked already so it wasn't an option to switch over due to that.

Good luck!

We also used the Hampton, we liked the breakfast option more and the rooms weren't that different to us. The bar at the Hyatt also isnt a regular bar, but my guests walked over there after the RD to grab a few drinks and said it was good.
The suite at the Hampton is HUUUUUUGE as well which was important to me since thats where we got ready. And the people we dealt with were lovely and gave us our suite at a very discounted price. Although I was quoted $20 less than what you were, you should definitely negotiate with them a little :)

Definitely book both and let people choose

I would let them know of the shuttle from the Hampton Inn.

We also had block issues about a month before the wedding, so do two especially if you have a lot of OOT

Yeah, I didn't go there personally, but a couple of my guests did after our RD. They said it wasn't an 'actual' bar but they did serve all kinds of drinks. I'm not sure how late its open, but you can definitely stumble over there easily :)

But if you book 2 hotels, what if you don't make the 10 at the one with the free shuttle!? I think I am going to book one that has the shuttle bc it makes thing so much easier so no one has to drive.

I put on the hotel info that if 10 rooms are block there will be a shuttle. Honestly most of my OOT will be driving in. Those that are flying will prbably stay with family, rent cars and/or catch rides. Many like to be on there on time schedule.
