Hotel Block Question

Hotel Block Question

So far I have called 2 places:

Location 1:
No prices for our date yet and the dates aren't even released for booking yet. However, 08 pricing is $135 for a single room and $165 for a suite (which FH and I would get). They don't provide shuttle service, and don't have a room for us to have a breakfast the morning after in.

Location 2:
Rooms are available, $159 for a single, $365 for a suite (no discount on the suites with the group rate). They do offer a shuttle to our RH if we book 15 rooms (only one round trip though). They also have a room for us to have a brunch in the next morning. They have everything we want but I am really weary of the prices and especially that they won't give us a discount on the suite, when we'll have at least 10 other rooms booked.

What would you do?

Set up 2 blocks. They release the block a month before the wedding.

I did 10 rooms at 2 hotels giving people a high/low end option.

Hmmm...if having breakfast the following morning is most important then I would go with option 2. I wouldn't pick option 2 just because they have shuttles because will that one round trip even fit all of your guests (probably not since you'll have at least 10 rooms blocked)?

If price is more important go with option 1, look into breakfast at a restaurant outside the hotel and talk to your limo company about getting shuttles?

I think I might call the shuttle company Location 1 recommended and see how much it would be to get the shuttle to do like 2-3 runs each way to the RH. We aren't doing limos since we're getting married at the RH-but I thought it would be nice to have the shuttles since the hotel is like a half hour away from the RH and FH's friends all like to drink heavily.

Good idea!!! It's probably better doing option 1 - unless the suite is absolutely amazing at the other hotel and worth the price, but that seems kinda steap.

It's a LaQuinta, so I can't see the suite being anything amazing. I just want to get a suite because that is where the guys will be getting ready.

hmm, they both seem quite high ... maybe you can keep looking for a hotel that will give you a discount being that its 10 rooms ... where are you looking for the hotel?

I agree with the two blocks - that's your best bet
