Hotel Blocking Process Question

Hotel Blocking Process Question

What questions did you (or plan to) ask when speaking with the hotel regarding blocking hotel rooms?

I am looking to get the ball rolling and I am curious about how you girls went about it - I am clueless! TIA

Re: Hotel Blocking Process Question

What is the minimum number of rooms available ?
Maximum ?
Is there a room guarantee ?
What is the rate ?
Is it discounted from the rack rate ?
Is there a shuttle service available ?
Is there breakfast available (at an additional cost or complimentary)
Booking deadline

Basic questions.
We also looked for a bar area, so that we can continue the party.
Our hotel offered a private party room for brunch the next morning if we were to have a lot of guests. Winds up being a little expensive, so we are picking up the cost of the regular Sunday brunch for our guests who participate. This way everyone can come down to eat whenever they are ready to.

Looking in any particular area ?

Re: Hotel Blocking Process Question

I actually got a list of recommendations from the hall where I'm having my reception...I also did a search on Hotels.com.
When you call you just let them know you are interested in speaking to someone re: blocking rooms for your upcoming wedding.
Usually, they'll say they have to c/b to let you know pricing.
I've found that most hotels give a 10% discount. Some will allow you to choose as many rooms as you'd like to block w/o payment from you....others will require a downpayment if it's more than a certain amount of rooms.
The hotels will usually hold until about 1 month prior to the wedding - so make sure to send out STD atleast 6mos in advance.
*A bit of advice - I would highly recommend giving your guests atleast 2 options - some will want to spend less, some wont mind splurging.

Our hall gave us recommendations but they were much further than the places we were thinking of (though closer to the airport for OOT guests I suppose)

We were looking to have our RD at the hotel as well so ask if they offer discounts on either end.

Also you might want to find out about prices for a bridal suite for your wedding night! Sometimes if you book enough guests, they will give you a special package with champagne and chocolates etc...

Thanks for the info.

I really like the Huntington Hilton - I have a call out to them at the moment.
