Hotel Blocks

Hello! I am hoping you guys might be willing to share some informatin regarding the hotel blocks you are reserving for the night of your weddings! Can you give me an idea of the rate and the hotel and maybe the season, if that makes a difference. FM if you would prefer. I have gotten some rates, but none seem to be a real 'deal.' TIA

where is your RH?

Re: Hotel Blocks

Sorry - it is the Inn at New Hyde Park. They recommend the Andrew (in Glen Cove?) and the GCH. The rates I got were both around 200$ / night, with taxes.

I haven't started looking yet but hotel blocks are really only 30-40 bucks cheaper than normal nights

Re: Hotel Blocks

It def seems like a lot! But, I had my mom call a bunch of places, because she is a TA, and the GCH at $200 was less expensive than say the Marriot in Uniondale, for example. Or, they were right around the same price, but the GCH is so much nicer, I think! I just hope people don't think I am being high maintenance by suggesting the GCH! There's a Comfort Inn down the road, but it will cost just as much! It's insane.

we are now debating if it is even worth it to block rooms

Re: Hotel Blocks

Well, I dont think it costs anything to block them, and you usually don't have to guarantee anything . . . we are doing it because we will get a reduced rate for ourselves night of - I don't want to come back to our apt!!

Re: Hotel Blocks

The Marriot was not cheap - but my mom thought she could probably negotiate with them more than the GCH.

Re: Hotel Blocks

we were quoted a little over $200 a night for an August Friday night wedding. The rate was the same if they booked thurs/ friday and/or sat night.

I would have thought a thurs night would be cheaper than a fri or sat.. but guess I was wrong.

I just did my block at the Best Western in Riverhead and the rate was $119. They actually dropped it by $40 or so...it was more a few months back.

My friend just got married in Dec and her rate at the Sheraton in smithtown was $99 or $100 per room...cant remember which one.
