Hotel for OOT

Hotel for OOT

Please help me with some advice!

I'm looking to block of hotel rooms pretty soon. I was wondering what the right etiquette was. Do I just choose a hotel that I think is reasonable and block off rooms? Or do I give my guests a llst of hotels in the area and let them choose where they want to stay?

Also, What do I do with those guests that tell me it's too far away to know how many nights they will need a room for?

Thanks in advance

well, what i did was blocked rooms at 2 hotels. the hotel will hold that rate until 1 month before the wedding. otherwise, they will give them away. i'm sure your OOT's will know by then.

I used the hotel that was recommended by the catering hall. When I called the sales mgr, she was very helpful. I can block a certain # of rooms at a time, and when the block is getting full, she will contact me to see if I want to add more rooms to the block. About a month b/4 my wedding, the remaining rooms that were not booked from my block will be released to the general public. Also, if I book a certain # of rooms, there is a complimentary shuttle to the catering hall. I'm having a Sat day wedding and I got the rate for Friday & Saturday.

You can always block rooms at two hotels with different price ranges. You should probably book rooms, your guests should get a better price. I would always look to see if any other discounts are better (AAA, AARP, etc)

I blocked rooms out at 2 Hotels. 1 of them is at the Inn at Eastwind which is directly on the premises of my RH, but a little on the pricey side. I have also blocked at a Best Western not to far from there and shuttle service is provided.

I will let them make the choice

I booked one for people... one that would be accessible to the reception place and the one that i thought was the nicest and got the best rate.

You might want to see what hotels offer the most. sometimes, there are perks for YOU if you book with a particular hotel....my hotel for example offers FREE shutte service for every 10 rooms booked, and a cheaper rate on the bridal suite if you've booked the rooms there...

How do you arrange shuttle service? Does the shuttle provide service to/from the reception hall? What about to or from the airport?

You have to contact the hotels about shuttle service. some dont' offer it at all, most offer it for a fee. they will shuttle wherever you want them to... mine does airport and reception hall runs... it costs $96.00 for 14 passenger van.... we are trying to book enough rooms with them so we dont' have to pay. if we do have to pay, it's still cheaper than going with a limo company.

to book a shuttle service, you just call the hotel and talk to the sales people... they will fill you in on their particular process.... my hotel also does shuttle runs to the mall and to the train station (so OOT people can go to the city). that does not cost anything...
