I recently blocked rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge. We booked there b/c they offer a free shuttle for guests, a hot breakfast, and we are able to bring alcohol into the banquet room we rented for the 'after-party'. BUT...my guests are beginning to complain that $150 is too much for the rooms! Can anyone recommend a hotel that is cheaper but offers at least the breakfast and the banquet/hospitality room??? Has anyone had any luck negotiating prices down at any hotels? We love this hotel and really want to keep the contract, so maybe we should attempt to talk them down?

Re: Hotel Help
i had a similar situation with the price but after doing research no one else had the shuttle to our reception , the breakfast, or the shuttle to and from the airport.. plus they are sooo accomodating there with the room for the party which we are also getting... and to be honest 150 isnt too horrible .. a friend of mine her hotel is 250 and she has to look somewhere else

Re: Hotel Help
1. Thats not a bad rate, ESPECIALLY for June.
2. Ive blocked rooms at the Hyatt in Hauppague and theyve been great but definitely dont offer those perks.
3. You CAN negotiate.
4. I posted this awhile ago and it might help. Some people tried and it didnt necessarily get them cheap rates but they got all of the offers to look at easily. Hotel Blocking Tips

Re: Hotel Help
Thanks girls! Yes, its true...the holiday inn really gives so much for the money. I just cant stand guests who complain about everything. I know its pricey...but if they dont like it im not stopping them from booking somewhere else!
I am calling tomorrow to see if I can back-track and negotiate the price down--ive called other hotels to get prices and I think it might get competative

On long island that is a decent rate. Hotel prices on long island are getting so high.

Re: Hotel Help
I just went by to look at the HI in Centerreach and I was actually wondering about bringing in our own alcohol for an after party. Could someone FM me with more info about that? Did they charge you for the use of a room?
I did get to see the bridal suite and I was really impressed. A huge king bed and a jacuzzi that was almost as big as my parents' backyard hot tub! Plus I thought the lobby was really nice which I know will make my FMIL happy
But I looked at a few hotels in the area and $150 was really the best deal. Hotels ranged up to about $190, but my mom is going to recommend to our OOT guests that they try hotels.com or something to shop around. Blocking rooms is a courtesy, anyone who doesn't see it that way is welcome to book elsewhere!!
