Hotel Help

Has anyone blocked rooms at either the Homewood Suites or Mariott Residence Inn in Plainview?

Would you recommend one over the other? Block rooms at both?

Do you know if either of them have a shuttle?

TIA

Re: Hotel Help

I had checked the Homewood Suites out, the guest rooms are very nice and breakfast was included for everyone. I ended up booking the 4 Points Sheraton though (across the street basically) because they had a bar that would stay open for after the wedding I don't know much about the Marriott Residence Inn but I do know people have said good things about it. And the prices are pretty reasonable at both so I don't know if I would block rooms at two hotels. Sorry I don't have more info for you!

I've blocked rooms at the Marriot in Uniondale but I deal with Marriot Hotels alot for my business and personal travel and LOVE them. They have been keeping me up to date on everything, how many rooms I have left, etc. I love their service.

Re: Hotel Help

Our friends blocked rooms in the Homewood Suites last year for their wedding and the rooms were really nice.

There isn't a bar at the hotel but, there is a conference room that can be used for an afterparty. They don't have shuttle service, the bride and groom arranged that themselves.

I'd say unless there's a major price different, just book one of them.

Okay... HUGE fan here of the Marriott Residence in Plainview!

I thought their rates were great!
LOVE their restaurant, so we're having our rehearsal dinner there the night before the wedding! (and I LOVE that the guests can then just WALK safely back to their rooms, no matter how tipsy they might be!).

LOVE the bar area for after the wedding! We're paying a bit extra to keep a bartender there until about 1am after the wedding and to have something to nosh on while our friends stay drinking at the bar.

LOVE the people that work there... SOOOO accomodating and NICE!!!

LOVE the amenities (game room, arcade, etc. for after the wedding).

LOVE that the breakfast is included with the rooms... and a GOOD breakfast, too... not just bagels and cereal. So we can 'host' a breakfast, but not have to pay an arm and leg. We're probably going to throw some money in to extend the breakfast by an hour or so.

The ONLY negative is that they don't have shuttle buses, but we're trying to find that on our own.

Re: Hotel Help

you can block rooms at both...we used 2 hotels...and it turned out to be a good thing. many hotels have a limit to how many rooms you can block. i ended up blocking 24 rooms total at 2 hotels. both ended up completely booked and that's with 3 guests getting rooms in the city and taking hte train to the wedding!
