One of my goals for this week is to book room blocks. Anyone have any suggestions for the Hauppauge / Ronkonkoma area in August? I have a LOT of out-of-towners and a lot of friends on tight budgets. But I don't want somewhere dumpy. I got a rate of $159 at the Hyatt but I'm afraid thats to high. Any advice?

try the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge. I stayed there for a friend's wedding and if I remember correctly, the group rate was $129.

$159 is actually a good rate for August. All of the quotes I have received are around $179 for hotels near Westbury. The booking agent at La Quinta told me that August is a very popular month.

There's a Marriot in Islandia that is nice.. and I think a Courtyard Marriot in Ronkonkoma.. with that said, I think the Hyatt is still your best bet for quality.

The La Quinta in Bohemia is nice but very small. The Marriott in Islandia is beautiful, just as nice as the Hyatt IMO. I got a quote of $139 a night for 9/6.
ETA: My brother just got married at Land's End...everything was amazing!

I did a lot of shopping around for hotels! I looked at the Raddisson at exit 63 and the girl doing to wedding booking was not nice at all! and in April she quoted me $149 which I thought was high.
I booked rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn on Vets Hwy for April and the group rate is $109. The girl I worked with is named Christina (she was great!)
I dont know what the August rates are but you should call. The hotel itself is beautiful. What I liked was certainly the rate was perfect, they have a bar that can stay open for guests returning from the wedding and they have a full breakfast in the morning (for an additional cost). Also if you are looking for a shuttle service Classic Limos and Shuttles will give you a discount for staying at the Hilton.

That is a really good price for the Hyatt.... I work across the street from there so we get employee discounts and that is cheaper than the room would cost with our discount lol. I am staying there on our wedding night but its unfortunately costing me $400 for the night (stupid move i know).
There is also a Hampton inn in the area and the Marriott (which I heard is really nice).. but I think the Hyatt might be the best for your $$

The Hilton Garden Inn quoted me at $119 per night so I went with them. If you book 20 rooms, the suite if free for you for the night.

try going to www.hotelplanner.com You enter in all your info like your wedding date, the city you need the hotel and what you want the max price to be and you'll get different quotes from hotels in the area. HTH!!

We stayed there while visiting family and we were surprised by it, their rates really are great and the hotel was clean!

we liked the Marriott Islandia, its HUGE and the staff was so nice. its a little pricey, I didnt block rooms with them just had my BMs stay with me in a suite

I'm staying at that Hyatt in Nov for a friends wedding and our AAA rate is $119! See if they can do better.
It is a Sunday night tho--the one i'm staying over for.

Try calling the hotels becuse I was looking online for awhile at the prices and then i decided to call and ask questions and ended up booking la quinta inn and suites in bohemia and they gave me a wedding discount so some places may do that I would call and ask

I think that is an average price....My girlfriend is getting married 7-11 and she was priced about $170 per night.

Thanks girls. I called all those hotels and going to see them and talk to people tomorrow morning with my dad. Hopefully I will make a decision on that tomorrow and knock one thing off my list. I knew LIW would give me good advice.
