I am getting married 6/30/12 on the North Fork. I have contacted all four of the big hotels in Riverhead and ALL of them are already booked and can't accomodate a block. I'm kind of in a panic and think my only two options are: 1) block rooms at one of the smaller hotels in Greenport, which I imagine will not be as nice and will be fairly pricey; and 2) block rooms at a big hotel as far East on LI as I can find one (I think the farthest East besides Riverhead are at around exit 64 of the LIE) and provide some kind of a bus back and forth?? I am so frustrated!!!!

Re: Hotel Problem - What would you do?
it's not your responsibility to find rooms & transportation for your guest... Look in to the smaller hotels, and the larger ones decided what fills your needs the best & go with that. We live on the east end (year round) had our wedding about a month ago, no one choose to stay at the hotel we blocked rooms at on our Sunday night wedding

I would book with a hotel as far east as you can....as long as you can provide transportation, this should not be a big deal. You may be able to find a hotel that will do a complementary shuttle.
Did you ask the RH if they can reccommend any hotels?

I would imagine the hotel won't do a complimentary shuttle because my reception is all the way in Mattituck. That would be a pretty long ride. I guess it's worth asking though.
My RH isn't really a RH, it's a vineyard, so they do not have any hotel affiliation.
I can't believe all 4 riverhead hotels are booked already, 9 months away!!!

Is there something going on out east that weekend? A big conference or event or something? Maybe they'll open up when the date gets closer.
One of the Giorgio's girls (shariallyson, maybe?) mentioned that she blocked rooms at the Crowne Plaze in Holtsville -- the rooms were cheaper than the ones in Riverhead and I think she's going to provide transportation for her guests (priced out through a limo or trolley company). That could be an option.
There's a new Residence Inn being built next to the Hilton. They weren't going to be open yet in May... maybe they'll be up and running by late June.
I asked one of the employees of the Hilton if there was an event and she said not that she knows of, but that she has gotten so many inquiries for wedding blocks for 6/30. I was surprised, because there aren't many 6/30 brides on here and the ones who are aren't getting married out east. I kind of can't believe there are THAT many weddings happening out east!
Those are both great tips about the hotel in Holtsville and the Residence Inn. I'm going to look into both, thanks SO much.

I'm curious if you found out any information about the new Residence Inn. I'm having problems with all the hotels too. I'm starting to regret booking my wedding out east because of the hotels.

I'm actually the one with blocks in Holtsville. Let me know if you need help with contacts at Crowne plaza or residence inn or with transportation.
