I have started calling hotels to find out about blocking rooms for my wedding - the only one that I got a chance to speak to this past weekend was the Inn at Fox Hollow. I was told that I had to guarantee (on my credit card) half of the rooms we block Are there any hotels that don't charge you for blocking rooms or have you guarantee any rooms??? Help!! I'm looking for hotels near Fox Hollow/Milleridge/NRC...thanks for the help!!

Yes, there is such a thing. I don't know exactly which hotels in that area but you should shop around so you don't have to be responsible for any rooms!

How many rooms do you want to block? A lot of hotels don't hold you financially responsible if you are planning on blocking 20 or less.
Hotels that I've stayed at for weddings in that area have been the Huntington Hilton and the Homewood Suites Melville. The Homewood Suites are a little closer and a little newer and I would highly recommend them.

I'm staying in Plainview at a really nice hotel... it's the Plainvew Marriott Residence Inn (off Old Country Rd... right off the SOB). My rate for my guests is 139 a night... and I don't have to guarantee anything. Plus, we're having our rehearsal dinner there the night before at their AMAZING restaurant. We love this hotel because the rooms are great, they have a bar for the night after our wedding, they have a game room, pool, gym, breakfast the next morning, pool table in the bar, etc. The only thing they don't have is shuttle service . Check them out... they didn't even take my credit card when I reserved 20 rooms for the Saturday and 25 for the Sunday (the night of the wedding). Speak to Laura... and tell her Sarah from LIWeddings told you about it. Good luck!

We are using teh Sheraton Four Points in Plainview. We blocked 20 rooms with no credit card guarentee (and actually alreday filed them so just added more). The hotel is new and really nice. Everyeon has been a pleasure to work with and they are a vendor on here. Speak to Michael.

wow! Really? I wonder if the 2 night vs. 1 night blocks make a difference. I actually think it was more the first time I called when I was only doing 1 night. hmmmm....

Re: Hotel question - please help!
Check any major hotel chain - holiday inn, hampton inn, mariott, etc - they don't charge for rooms. I'm using the Holiday In Express in Hauppauge - they guaranteed me 20 rooms and will add to it as guest reserve - guests get a free full breakfast that could feed an army - transportation to the reception hall - plus all the extra ammenties that come w/room (refrig, micro, tv, cable, internet, etc) and access to the pool, whirlpools, etc.

I too am using the Four Points Sheraton in Plainview and they have been great! No credit card required for the room block.
