Is anyone else blocking rooms for their guests? Is there normally a discount that hotels give for blocking rooms with them?

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
They typically have a group rate that they will extend to your guests.

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
yes, I am doing a room block at the Fox Hollow. We blocked a small number of rooms now and then we may book more depending on the inquiry responses regarding hotels from the STDs

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
Just check- some make you meet their minimum and YOU pay for the rooms that weren't reserved, while others require that the rooms be booked 30 days in advance and the leftover rooms in the block are then released back into the general hotel pool and are no longer available for the group rate (although YOU don't get penalized for all of the blocked rooms not getting booked)

Yes, we booked rooms close to Manhattan... but there is no requirement for us... They get the discounted rate up until 30 days before...but, my guests I'm telling them before that date, so if they are slackers, I can still tell them to book the hotel rooms if they haven;t,,,,

We blocked 15 rooms for the day before and day of the wedding. They gave us a discount on the rooms and a free suite for me and FH for the night of the wedding

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
yes hotels normally give discounts if you block rooms ahead of time. We've blocked rooms for the whole weekend of our wedding and got a discount on the bridal suite for FH and I. good luck!

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
When we booked our hotel block, we told them how high we were willing to go as far as prices, and they kept it under a hundred per room for our guests. Also have shuttle service. That was a deal maker for me. I didn't want my guests wondering how to get back to the hotel after a night of drinking

Re: Hotel Room Blocks
We blocked 20 rooms, they have to be booked I think about 30 days before the wedding. Everyone gets a discounted rate but they had no shuttle. There were only two hotels we were considering, and the one with the shuttle wasn't as nice and was more expensive and the shuttle wouldn't cover everyone anyway. Block as many rooms as you want, as long as you aren't responsible for them it doesn't matter. That's why we went with the max. We don't know how many people will use it!
