Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

Okay, FH and I are financing the whole wedding ourselves, so money is really...REALLY tight. EW has a beautiful hotel suite, but it would cost about $200 extra. This may not seem like a lot, but right now, everything considered it is. We would like to treat ourselves to the nice big suite as a gift to ourselves. Truth of the matter is though, our wedding ends at 11:30pm, how much are we really going to enjoy it...enough to pay the extra money? We had our hearts set on it, but is it really worth it for the amount of time we are going to spend there for 1 night? I don't know what to do. I want to treat ourselves, but I am not sure if it's worth it. What would you guys do and why?

Go for it. Its your wedding night. I think you'll regret it if you don't. Bri and I are getting the bridal suite at our hotel.

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

is EW---East Wind?

The rooms there are gorgeous!! If you are tight on money, just go with the regular room...like you said, you qre not going to be there a long time to enjoy it as it is....

Really, the rooms are all beautiful, so if u do go with the suite, more power to ya!

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

Well, where would you stay instead? Are you going to have other people staying in another hotel? Personally, I would want to stay where my bridal party and OOT guests are staying. So if they are all staying there, I would, if not, I wouldn't. I say this because I know I want to party after the wedding ends, and it's just easier to all be staying at the same place. But if this is not an option for you, and no one is staying in a hotel, then I say go for the extra money. You have enough time that if you save a dollar a day until your wedding, you could easily pay for that room and more. I know that money is tight, I TOTALLY am in the same situation, but I think it's worth the splurge.

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

Well, I am not sure about what the OOT guests are doing yet...I am actually going to give them options because East Wind is expensive (sorry about the abreviation before ). However I know most of my in-town guests are staying at the inn too along w/ us. We are providing my parents w/ a night stay as a gift...I really don't want my parents driving all the way home after the wedding...I am sure they will be exhausted. I know my cousins and uncle are staying there, as well as at least 2 of my BM's and their husband/significant other. The traditional room is just a regular hotel bed and bathroom. The Ambassador Suite has a king sized bed, jacuzzi, sitting area, and is kind of away from the other rooms. They do have suites that are kind of in the middle, junior suites, but I have never seen them and don't know what they include yet...I have to call.

I am very, VERY happy that a lot of people are staying at the Inn. It will assure that those who are drinking will have a place to sleep w/ out traveling. And, I think it's a cool extension of the night, you know? I just don't want to be right next door on my wedding night , ya know what I mean? I'll see if I can get good pictures of both rooms and download them.

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

If I could do it over I would have gotten a regular room and not spent the extra money. My reception ended at 12:00. By the time we finished saying goodbyes and packing up all of our stuff from the bridal suite, we got back to the hotel around 1:30-1:45. We had tons of family members hanging out in the bar, since we were sick we went back to the room, I guess we got into the room at about 2:00.
We got up freshed up ate breakfast and went home to take showers. (We lived 5 minutes away from the hotel).
Like I said my opinion is to not to spend the extra money - but it is up to you. You have to really think about the time you are going to be in the room. :)

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

some places will give you a complimentary Bridal suite if you send your guests there...
or maybe they'll discount it for you. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
We got ours for free

Do you charge for ice???

Well, I could not find too many pictures, so this will have to do for now. Sorry. The first one is the inn itself, the second is the ambassador suite, third is the regular room.

Yes, we got the comp traditional room. we would just have to pay the difference to upgrade.

ETA: the pic of the traditional room is different from the room we would get (we would be getting a king sized bed), but you get the idea.

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

this may sway votes a bit...we are not having a honeymoon because of money. Well, actually we are having a honeymoon...like a year later. So this is it. FH is concerned about the money...so am I. Hopefully we will get most of it back...I just feel like we are doing without a lot already...but I wish we got 1 more night w/ it or something. I mean if checkout is at like 12pm or something, then is it really worth it?

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

I was going to say: Treast yourselves and get the bridal suite. But after looking at the pics, the standard room is also very nice. I think you'd be just as happy in that room. If you want to save the money, treat yourselves somewhere else, like on the honeymoon or something and go with the standard room here.

I honestly don't think its worth it to spend the x-tra money. To me its just a room taht you'll only be spending a few hours in.

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

I know exactly how you are feeling...I originally wanted to get a Bridal Suite room for my wedding night, but then thought about the reality of the $$. By the time my reception is over, it will be 1AM...By the time we say our goodbyes, it will probably be closer to 2AM...So the time I am going to be the room that night will be minimal...I can still do my wedding night duties in a normal room! Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

we had the same thing going on for the garden city hotel.. i just downgraded to a reg room.. we needed to cut back and we did the same thing. The suite there was like 400 bucks more.. Our wedding ends @ 11 - Time we say goodbye and tie up all loose ends, and we are all going back to the GCH for drinks @ the bar. So what am i gonna use room for 8 hours? Ehh.. Save the $$.. Ya no what, we are gonna go back their the night of our 1 year and splurge on the suite and spend the night...We could enjoy it more..

Re: Hotel Room on wedding night. Please vote!

I would definitley go with the regular room. It's beautiful, and chances are, you're not going to be in it for long. The only part of the room that's going to matter is the bed (either for some nooky or just to pass out ) and you'll have a king size bed in either oom. I would save the money and maybe try to go away for a weekend for your HM and then go on a bigger trip when you can afford it.
