How much in advance should I block off rooms? We don't have a TON of OOT guests....but enough that we'll need to get a bout 10 rooms...?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: hotel rooms
This is all me and FH have been talking about lately (at least half of our guests are OOT). We have to block off quite a few rooms so that's something I want to tackle soon-ish... at least by summer.
I think it can never be too early for something like that because hotels book up way in advance anyway, ya know?

There really aren't any... the closest are on Rt. 110. Luckily, to get from Rt. 110 to CLM is pretty easy.

FH and I tired to book them but they wouldn't let us because it's more then a year in advance.. Has anyone heard that before?

Re: hotel rooms
I have, my dad contacted the Hilton in Huntington and they said it was too early and to contact them in sept/oct...but my wedding is next oct so that would be the 1year marker...
I guess it depends on when your date is - but id say your safe with at least a year in advance!

Re: hotel rooms
I searched about five hotels in December to start blocking rooms so I could put the info on the std/engagement announcements which are being sent by next week.
ONLY one gave me a 'contract' to block rooms the others said you have to wait until its a year till since they don't have rates out more then advancement of a year.
The hotels I had called all had a ten room min of blocks. The one i picked had free transportation to and from the ch since they are my ch hotel vendor. They told me I could cancel or add anytime. If i need to add they must be informed asap since they may not have room available (you take a risk when you don't block as many as you need right away). I have about 15-20 couples out of state we figured 10 will show up at our blocked hotel and a few will go to a better and closer hotel.
I hope that helps.

Really? The hotels we're looking into won't let us until May - one year before the wedding. Apparently they won't have their price list available until then.

Re: hotel rooms
This is something i did right away since i have a lot of OOT guest......we booked 15 rooms at one and 20 at another....our contracts are signed and we can add more as we book. This was something i wanted out of the way and over with.

Re: hotel rooms
The hotel I was looking at said to call back a little less than a year in advance. I don't think that's out of the ordinary.

Do you have to put any money or credit card info down?
