Hi Ladies! I've booked a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott on Farmingdale, but I'm worried that 2 vans may not be enough to get all of our guests to the hotel and back. Has anyone used or looked into a shuttle bus? About how much do they cost?
My other thought is to list a few phone numbers for cabs on a card and include them in the hotel baskets. What are your thoughts on this?

Re: Hotel Shuttle
In the paperwork I looked at it says they have two 13 passenger shuttles - and if more than 15 rooms book, they recommend obtaining outside shuttle services. I'm a little worried, because we're expecting a lot of out of town guests and I don't really have it in my budget to supply extra transportation, but I do want to make things easy on my guests.

Re: Hotel Shuttle
Not with this hotel but another marriot I was having the same issue. I have 100+ out of town guests (FH from another state..) and I wasn't honestly in love with the hotel. We've decided to pick a hotel we liked better and we're going to foot the shuttle bill. It may sound weird (I'm still coming to terms with it..) but we're using a school bus. It'll only cost us about $350 and it will fit 50 people so I own't be worried about too many people being without a ride. I'm going to keep a list of those who need trasportation and once I have 50 I'll tell people sorry. When I was looking into outside shuttle companies it was going to run $750-$1200+ which I just think is crazy..
Good luck!

We are doing this. School buses are much cheaper!

That's a pretty good idea! We could swing 350, but I don't know if my parents would go for that. What company are you using?
I'm really considering just leaving numbers for cabs - I wonder if I could set something up with a cab company for a discounted fare.

How did you come across the school bus?

Re: Hotel Shuttle
Just call your local school bus company! Mostly all of them do it. I actually only called First Student so I don't know if any others are cheaper. It was something like $86 an hr for a minimum of 4 hrs. After the 4 hrs it's $44 per half hour.
The way it works is the clock starts when the driver gets to the yard to pick up the bus. Then they'd go back to the yard inbetween and then the clock would start again when they pick the bus up. So it really depends on how far your location is from the bus yard but you can definitely find companies closer to your location.
My cousin had used one up in Boston because their entire wedding was from out of state and my mom mentioned it but I was against it. Then I found out only one place shuttled to my reception and I wasn't thrilled with the hotel or the area it was in so I figured I'd look into it.

Re: Hotel Shuttle
We needed a shuttle also. Best pricing I got for a 27 passenger shuttle bus was through NY Style Limo in Holbrook. Anthony really worked with me. Good luck!

Perfect :) They said they raise their pricing each July just a little.. she said some years it's nothing some year's it's a couple of dollars. They won't book until 6-8 weeks before your event either.

Re: Hotel Shuttle
We got a 32 passenger shuttle because we had about 70 people at the hotel and the 12 passenger vans didn't cut it.. by the time they get everyone to the rh, the ch would be over!! IMO any more than 2 trips is not going to work unless you want people standing around waiting. I'd say 3 max!

Definitely! This is another reason why I wanted to do the bus or a shuttle on my own because the first set of people would have to be at my hall for almost an hour before cocktail hour and then some people would be getting there late. My hall doesn't have a big lobby or anything for people to mingle in either.
