(Jessie - this could apply to you too if you didn't know this already)
I called the hotel that we are going to do our room block in for some more info (can't book yet, still too early) and the sales guy I talked to said the hotel has a bar in it that normall stays open till 11pm but I can have them keep it open till 2am.
We have a 7pm-12am wedding so that would give us an extra couple hours for people to go back and have a couple drinks.
There is no fee that I have to pay - obviously people would just pay for their drinks, so do you guys think it's worth it?
Just trying to factor in how tired everyone may or may not be.

If it's no charge to you, than I would just have them keep it open... I was recently at a wedding that ended at 12 and we all hung out at the bar until it closed... Keep in mind that other people at the hotel may utilize this...

Def worth it. I went to a wedding i nOct and after the wedding we stayed at the bar till 2am. After that people scattered off to party in hotel rooms.

totally have them keep it open. People like to have a place to wind down after a party.

Do it.. Especially if they aren't charging you.. You will still get a handful of people who want to continue the night.. I have been to some hotel bar after partys where the bride and groom came down for a little bit then went to bed, but everyone else stayed up hanging out even after the hotel bar closed at 3... I guess if you think about it, not all your guests are going to be as tired as you and the bridal party will be... It's worth giving the option. The hotel I want to book at charges you if no one shows up, but I think it is worth it to me to take that risk.. We have a lot of partiers anyways.

Are you using the same hotel as me? Courtyard Marriot - Farmingdale? If so, than that it sweet to know because FH and I would definitely take advantage of that and I'm glad to hear that there's no fee involved!

YESS - sorry, I should have mentioned that we are going to use the Courtyard Marriot in Farmingdale.
I talked to a guy named Brian yesterday who was SUPER helpful.
If you haven't called already - do so and have him take down your info. He wrote mine down so he could give me a call the 2nd week of June to book the room block.

well I had called before and they said can only book 50 weeks in advance so I am literally calling 50 weeks to the day LOL. I need to block these rooms before my STDs go out and I want to send them out by beginning of June.

Thanks ladies - I was leaning towards doing it but just wanted some other POV's.
Jessie - i hear ya on the 50 weeks, that's what Brian told me yesterday. I'm just nervois b/c of the wedding being on a holiday weekend but I have another month and then i can book. I agree though - calling 50 weeks to the day is a good idea.

You actually made me so excited about this news! Since we are not going on the cruise the day after the wedding anymore, I really would like to have had some kind of an after party and this just couldn't have worked out better. Pretty much all my family and our close friends are going to be staying at the hotel and they are always up for partying to we will definitely be there til that bar closes!

btw... did they tell you how many rooms you are allowed to block before they charge you? Is it 10 or 15? I already have over 15 rooms but I am not paying to block more until people start to book.

He told me if you get 10 rooms blocked you get the shuttle
If you block 15 you get a free room for you and FH the night of the wedding but he also mentioned something about a discount on the bridal suite too - but that part I kinda missed (sorry)
He said NOTHING about cost and I asked him about it. Asking flat out 'so there is no cost to block off rooms' and he said 'yes no cost - the only time we take your credit card info is to hold a room for you the night of'
Did you hear something else??

Re: Hotel will keep bar open later - yay or nay???
no I didn't. I actually didn't really get any info about it at all - just that I had to call 50 weeks in in advance to block rooms so I figured I'd get all this info when I called.
That's awesome though about the free room because I was going to ask if it's possible to get a free room/bridal suite for us for the night. I'm definitely blocking 15 rooms then.
Thanks so much for all the info!

Ohh ok good - b/c if we got conflicting info we would have to lay a smack down LOL
but no problem!!! happy to share!!!! I don't know if we will book 15 but we will def have 10 even if FH and I are included in that 10.
I just really want to make sure we have the shuttle for the guests - thats a huge selling point for me!!!!
keep me posted on how it goes when you book

If you don't have to pay, I don't see why not...
If it were me as guest, I'd go get changed and come back down for a couple before bed. Def!
