hotels in NYC

anyone know if there's any way to get discounts on hotels in manhattan.
FH can't get time off to go on a honeymoon (plus we'll be broke after the wedding)
We're just going to spend a night or 2 in the city.
I thought someone might know of something

honestly, you arent going to get any 'great' prices in the city. Be prepared to spend a minimum of 300 bucks per night~but it is worth it. The accomodations will be beautiful and the service will be top notch.
We had our 'mini moon' at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park and although not cheap it was DEF worth it!

I stayed in the Affinia Dumont for a friend's bachelorette party. The price was very reasonable (for NYC), and if you have a AAA card you get an even bigger discount. It's a health spa type hotel, very nice, decent central location (34th and Lex I think ...). They have a few other hotels around the city, but I'm not too familiar with them.

There was a big article in the New York Times today about B&B's in NYC ... you should check that out too.

You can check Travelocity, or even Priceline if you're willing to risk not knowing where you're staying. I did that for Vegas and it was great, NYC I haven't tried, but I think you get to choose a general area ...

There is Le Parker Meridien and the Hudson Hotel that you should be able to get a rate between $195 - $250 per night and there is also the Double Tree in Times Square.
