I called around to a number of hotels saying that I was looking for a place for my guests to stay after my wedding and received quotes. It then dawned on me to call back and just ask for a price as a regular customer. Well, EVERY SINGLE HOTEL gave me a cheaper price! So, if I could make a suggestion, I'd say to do what we're doing. Once you find the best hotel with the best price (sorry I can't help out with your area) tell your guests to just call on their own and book their rooms. Don't do the entire 'blocking off' because they'll end up spending a lot more. Good luck finding hotels!

Re: Hotels in the area...quotes?
What were you quoted as a group rate vs. a regular room? I got $109 at two local hotels (Hampton Inn and Holiday inn Express in Ronkonkoma)

Re: Hotels in the area...quotes?
the hampton inn quoted me $159, but i think it was for the new one on the express way. holiday inn was $99 per night, and that was for blocking 10 rooms. i thought that was pretty good. quite honestly i feel badly about the possibility of people spending upwards of $300 just to stay on long island. it is really not affordable. thankfully only a few family members will be coming from out of town.

It really depends on the day you get married, which days you need it for and how many rooms you are blocking too.
I had my wedding on what was considered a 'holiday weekend' so it was more expensive.. I blocked rooms off at the Raddison at MacArthur, (LIE exit 63) and at the Hampton Inn, (also exit 63 on LIE). Hampton Inn had free breakfast buffet for any guests. Youre best bet is to take out the Yellow Pages and start calling!!!
