house hunting...

Is anyone else house hunting and totally discouraged. FH and I have looked at like over 50 houses now and we dont like anything...no one updates anything...

I feel your pain! We have seen sooo many different houses/townhouses. FH & I just want this to be over already.

Gina I know what you mean about sh!tholes! Last week I went to see two new places that my realtor said were just listed. FH was working so I went to see them with my mom. We walked into one of the places and almost passed out! The owners had two huge dogs and a cat. The carpet/stereo speakers/furniture were all covered in animal fur. It was disgusting. My mom had a perfume sample in her pocket and actually sprayed some perfume so we could breathe!

We drove around in the areas we knew we wanted to live and seriously asked around for houses for sale. Sounds crazy but the first place we made an offer we went rt up to the house, FH went to the door and the owner was actually in the backyard and let us look at the house, we were just coming back from the beach so I was actually still in my bathing suit so I quickly threw something on and we viewed the house, we clicked with the owners right off the bat and they really wanted to sell it to us. We ended up making an offer which worked awesome for both of us since we didn't go through a broker. I personally hate brokers I had my share of them in Manhattan, I'm not going to pay someone to find something I can find myself. JMO.

Try not to get discouraged!!! I know it's hard, but it will all be worth it when you finally find your house. FH and I looked for 9 months before finding our house. We used an agent and had planned on buying a different house that fell through before the one we just bought. We found our house on MSLI, but it took alot of looking. We went everyweekend and sometimes during the week to look at houses. We saw one in which there were ant hills inside the house and termites eating at the wood around the windows on the outisde it was gross!!! It just takes time and a strong stomach to view some of these places!!
