Maybe I'm just not in the spirit of things. I know I should be excited about all the wedding planning and house hunting but I am not. I tired of all the stress and the meetings and my parents telling me what i should and should not do and sitting for hours on the computer just to find that even though the market is good right now, house prices are still sooooo high. Sorry to complain but this is supposed to be my vacation off and I am not enjoying it at all

I know how you feel. FH and I just got into contract on a house. It was pretty stressfull with all the wedding planning. Maybe take a break or put a limit on yourself. Ex: Im only going to be on line looking at houses for 1/2 hour today. Or Im only going to go to 2 open houses this weekend.
Im a nut case though...I was stressed b/c I just wanted to find my house!! So I saw like 5 houses a day. But that was my stress relief..feeling like I was accomplishing something. GOOD LUCK though!!!!!

I can totally relate... We are in the process of looking for a house too! It is extremely stressful but in the end it will all be worth it. Maybe you can give yourself some time off from it for a while and pick back up in a month or so. Everyone keeps saying how its such a great time to buy, but honestly, prices of houses on LI are INSANE!!
Good Luck Girlie and Hang in there!

Re: House hunting stinks
Don't look online anymore - contact a realtor and go to a few showings.... FH and I looked at about 5 houses in two hours on a Saturday. We're going into contract and spent three weekends looking.
This is silly but think about decorating, that usually will lift your spirits..
What areas are you looking in? Also, if you still want to look online - don't forget about Craigslist and forsalebyowner.com...
There is definitely something out there for you!!!! Don't get discouraged!!

Re: House hunting stinks
I AM SO sorry, i know how frustrating it can be. I hardly get to go home after work anymore lol. Going to look at places is so hard too. Just last week we saw one place that was all completely renovated and everything was brand new but the place was real small. Then we saw another apartment which was HUGE but needed work which would be ok but the building is so weird. Nice entrance, its gated with security the lobby is nice but the floors in the hallways above the lobby are horrible...not tomention all the other places BUT im hopeful, just have to stay positive.
Planning for such big things in a short period of time can get to you but remember in the end how it will all be worth it

Re: House hunting stinks
Jenn, i couldnt agree more.
We got a realtor and she took us to about a dozen homes in one saturday, we did this for 3 weekends in a row, and found our house.
These realtors work off commision, so its best to have one working for you, so you dont have to do all the work
She would find all the houses, she would hten go to all the different realtors offices to pick up Keys to all the houses. SHe would then map each house to house to house, so when we would leave one house we had a directions to the next house.
I think this is a better way than to try to look online, another thing is online the house may be in contract already, they dont remove houses right away as soon as they are in contract.

I am sorry you are stressed. Just take a break for a little bit and enjoy your vacation.
When you find the right house you will know. After dealing with 3 different realtors, driving from house to house a million times (just to be disappointed)...I finally found my house while just looking online one day. As soon as I saw it I knew that it was going to be my house lol
It is very stressful but once it is all said and done... it will all be worth it.

i agree about going to a realtor. Ive been doing both. I have a realtor showing me places plus if i see places i really like online i call up right away to set up an appointment and going to see it. I also look for open houses for apartments i am interested in, every weekend theres a bunch in the neighborhoods im looking at

I know exactly what you mean. The prices these people are asking for some houses is ridiculous. It's like a chain reaction though. Sellers see a house 'similar' to theirs selling for a lot... so they think they can get that price for their house. Even though their house isn't nearly as nice and it's in a crappier neighborhood

Re: House hunting stinks
Thanks girls, it helps to know that I'm not the only one going through this, not that I want you all to be feeling the same way!!! We went to 5 different realtors, but they are all saying the same stuff! 'Trust us' Plus, some are buyers agents and want us to sign contracts so that we will work with only them, others are sellers agents, ugh its so confusing!!! Then we got one guy to take us out, but we HATED him, he was sooooo arrogant, so now we are back to square one. Like you all said, it will be worth it in the long run!!! Thanks for all of your support and good luck to everyone!!!! :)

It definitely is stressful. Where are you looking? We worked with a great realtor that took us to a bunch of houses on one Saturday and we fell in love with a house! FH and I went to a few open houses and weren't impressed. Finally the one realtor I had contacted about a year ago, I called and told her we wanted to look around. She had been emailing me listings for a year. I picked out about 8 of them we wanted to see and she did everything. Just stay positive.

Re: House hunting stinks
I know EXACTLY how you feel. FH & I have been looking for about 6 months now. We changed realtors which was the best thing we could have done! We looked at a few places about 2 weeks ago. We but bids on 3 of the places. the one we wanted the most finally accepted this past Sunday. We were sooo excited. We had engineering sll set up for Monday. On our way up to the inspection....the engineer calls us to tell us the owner woun't let him in because they accepted a higher offer. (It was only $3,000 more ) It just really *****...everyone keeps telling us it wasn't meant to be and that there is something nicer out there for us. I am trying to believe this....but I would really like to see this happen!
