Houses

Houses

For those of us that don't currently own a house/co-op/condo when do you anticipate buying? I'm in such a panic thinking about how the majority of our money right now is going towards the wedding. We won't be able to really save for a house until after the wedding. We rent from FH's dad so we have an awesome apartment for what we're paying but I can't help but want to be in my own house asap! When do you girls think you'll be able to buy? Is this a thought on everyone's minds?

def. on my mind.....but i know we wont be able to buy something until after the wedding. even though we pay super cheap rent at this apartment now, all of our money is going towards the wedding. FH also has money set aside that he saves every month for a house also, but we want to use some of the wedding money towards a downpayment too.

It's crazy when you think how much a down payment can be... and how much you pay in the end for a house after all the interest paid... about double what you paid!

It's ALWAYS on my mind. We can hardly save for the wedding, so theres no saving for a house at the same time. I honestly don't know how people do it?? I'm hoping to find another job soon so I can bring in some extra money that we can put aside, but I feel like the process is going on forever!

Thats what I think we're going to do too but when you think about it, a decent down payment is like $80,000-$100,000... does anyone think they'll be getting that much from their wedding? I sure know I won't be holding my breath for that much money!

Sometimes I wish we'd be able to buy the house before the wedding.

i do title insurance ( we issue insurance for the bank stating that no one else owns the propery and there are no issues and whatever) and i see a lot of 100% financing still. or some down payments of 5-10k. it all depends on the banks and what your loan officer can ******** to the bank.

we want to buy a house but just dont think we can afford it right now. hopefully a year after the wedding.

down payment of 5-10k is def. do-able for us. but we would still wait till after the wedding, since that our #1 savings for right now. but 5-10k sounds great lol

But then you have to think the mortgage payments will be more and there's so much more to owning the house then just the mortgage payment. Water, gas, heat, electricity, cable, taxes.... and God forbid something breaks! Money is the only thing that stresses me out. I feel like I shouldn't worry about it now but I cant help it.

Also, it doesnt help that my sister married this year, had a house built in NC and is now living in a gorgeous house with no mortgage!

When you move down south you can pay a mortgage outright. Houses are so cheap. Not fair for us. You need at least 600k to get something.

Re: Houses

I am hoping with the money from the wedding and give a year or two we can save and get a house then. I also think ofmy son and him starting HS right after we get married so where ever we live I hope to stay there til he finishs HS. So we will see.
