i was watching a few minutes of Oprah yesterday who had housewives as guests...
AND i have to say i am SHOCKED how whiney these women are
ANd this is just my opinion of course....But i think that housewives should be able to clean the house, cook and take care of their children without WHINING AND WHINING....
It really bothered me that one woman said that she watched tv when they were intimate...letting her DH 'take care of his business'
I HAD to turn it off

Re: Housewives
I am hoping to be a SAHM one of these days - I have to say I wouldn't mind taking care of the house or chores daily - while taking care of a child - BUT just like with any other job I am sure there are moments where you are bored or fed up - or the 'pay' just isn't right.
It is a 24/7 job - with no vacation to be a SAHM. People who work office jobs can usually come home and kick back relax and leave work in the office - SAH mom's don't have that pleasure.
I would still expect my husband to help me take care of my children when he is home - not becuase I dont want to, but becuase that is part of the bonding time and I think that is really important.
In addition I think it is really important for SAHM's and housewives to still maintain their identity - do things they like - volunteer -meet with friends for lunch - whatever it is that makes them happy. Its hard to be home alone all day.

Being a SAHM is a 7 day, 24 hour job. I don't get a break or a day off.
I think this is the key right here. The problem with being a SAHM or SAHW is when they get taken for granted. I agree with Red in that whoever is home should definitely do the cleaning and cooking while the other partner is off working. But remember, that partner's day ends at 5pm (or whatever), so it's not exactly fair to expect wifey to keep working 16-18 hour shifts just because she is home and not working an outside job.
If the husband gets 2 days off week, shouldn't the SAHM also get at least one day where nothing gets done in the house?

See, my hubby works 6 days a week and sometimes has to meet customers on Sundays so my situation may be a little different.

Re: Housewives
If I were a 'housewife' which I would love to be...actually a SAHM would be more accurate, I would certainly expect that I would be responsible for many of the household chores. I would gladly do that in exchange for having to run in the rat race and leave my child in day care. As Lori said, it is a 24-7 job that I would gladly take on! (And not whine). I'm sure I would need a break, though, every once in a while.
